Just to let you know that we are only few days away from our planning this September 21, 2013. This is from 10 am till 5 pm. Be reminded to be there on time so we can start on time, finish on time and be maturely prepared this means bring your pens and papers along with your agendas. If you are bringing someone with you that you think to be your successors, please think twice pray and discern good on that person, so we don't waste time but rather productive so we move forward in accomplishing our mission and vision in this Ministry.

Bro Serg/ Sis Lolit, can you please help us with St Bernadette's? Let's first wait if the others are good with Sept 21 and/or tomorrow.

As most of the leaders indicated their intention of someday stepping down (sometime this year?), it'll be a good idea to also invite your potential replacements.

Christian- do we have an agenda?

PCs/YFLs - please bring with you ideas for 2014 that will be geared towards making New Jersey come alive (what sort of activities or pastoral formation teachings should we focus on on top of what Manila is suggesting) and issues that you feel that prevented us in 2013 to further our work of evangelization.

PCs/YFLs - please bring with you a listing of your members (separating active vs non-active). We are looking at stats of where they live and their ages - so at a minimum, we need names, active or not, address (city/county), and age.

Awake from our slumber! We all know the work that needs to be done - let's just do them with a cheerful heart. We have every confidence that if we work together, we can accomplish a lot. The Echo Conference was proof of this.

Dear Cluster Leaders,

Can you please give me your calendar of activities for September and October? Bro Tex gave me the calendar for the North but you may have updated it already. A CFCFFL Cluster servant suggested that since September is the month that we kick off the 40 Days for Life, it'll be a good idea that all the teachings in Sept will revolve around pro-life. I think this is a great idea for the YFL to do being that pro-life issues are attacking more our young generation. I'm thinking that we can do a light teaching on this side-by-side with a teaching on live pure (or living a life of purity).

Since pro-life is an issue that we can't tackle ourselves, I have to solicit the help of our pro-life coordinator to find us a speaker. With this said, we should make this a Sector Assembly.

Christian said that he can handle the talk on living pure based on some of the training he received on Theology of the Body.

After having the teaching in September, we can gather again as a Sector (or Cluster if you wish) and choose an abortion clinic from the choices that was given to us so we can go there sometime in October. I will forward you the instructions after we have the teaching.

40 Days for Life starts on September 25 and ends on November 5.

Let me know your thoughts on this. For me, this will be my first attempt to visit an abortion clinic so I'm kind of excited and scared but I believe that it's time that we get involved in this one issue that is causing so much evil in our society. I pray that you all feel the same way.

So much to do - we also have to have the camps. We really need to meet. Hope Sept 21 works for everyone. Also need a date for the Sector Assembly on Pro-life. Would Sept 28 work? Let us know.

Hello everyone!

As your uncle Bong has said, our meeting is just a few a days away. I just wanted to clarify what will be taking place.

Rather than having a weekend long planning treat we will be dedicating all planning on that day.. So what makes it different? We will be locked in a room with your coordinators so that we will each have a schedule which does not conflict because we all agreed/planned together.

I will be researching the different manuals and retreats so that you can take advantage of all the different retreats.

But... I do ask you to write about a page about what you want for not only your clusters but for NJ. This includes programs, topics, fund raisers, etc. Please bring this with you because it ill help a lot... I know you all know what you want but bring this page for concrete proof of what you want (I stepped down but I'm still rather serious...)

As pointed out, please bring MAX 1 youth each.. Ideally this person will be the one who will take up your responsibilities when you move on to other things. I can't express my seriousness to those request, I don't want the room to be congested and I want the day to be focused.

Lastly, please come to the retreat with MANY ideas an with an open heart, I'm sure there will be differences in approaches. However, it is alright to be concerned with things.... But I ask you to conserve to the bear minimum so that we won't get off track with the task at hand.

I ask you all to trust me but more importantly trust God and I'm sure this can be the start to a very fruitful year.

My work didn't approve of me taking off on Sept 21. They scheduled me for a morning shift but I'm trying my best to switch to a closing shift because I can't call out. However, if the switch is made, I can definitely make it but I'd have to leave early. Maybe around 4 just in case there's traffic on parkway. But I'll definitely update you guys! Dear Cluster Heads,

As we consider most of our cluster heads "outgoing" being that you are getting old - sorry but this is a sad fact of our lives - and that you are all about to be moved to the College based - another sad fact of being over 18 - please send someone who you feel can replace you in your current post. We, the parent coordinators, will have a final say on who your replacements will be but would really like to give you a chance to bring forward someone who you felt is truly deserving to be called your replacements. We can no longer sit idle on this as we really need to move forward before we lose all the members in New Jersey esp in the South. We have a lot to do, and we truly need leaders that would have the time to devote to pastoring our young members. We can no longer work around anybody's busy schedules.

Don't mean to sound harsh, just want to make things real. Hope everyone understand where we are coming from.

Hi Tita Beth and everyone,

As true as it is that we all are getting really old and eventually will have to say goodbye to the positions we're in, I don't think it's appropriate to talk about all of this moving on stuff through email. Tita Beth, you mentioned that parent coordinators have the final say about replacements. I hope this isn't a final decision because Law and I would love to talk with you and all parent coordinators regarding this. I do hope we can find some kind of solution that allows all of us as NJ core to have peace and understanding. I will contact all clusterheads and make sure they try their best to be present so that everyone is on the same page about everything that will be discussed on sept 21. I'm glad to let you all know that I will be there. I was able to switch with a coworker.

Let's all continue to pray for each other, for New Jersey and for all the plans God has for our area.

As requested by Christian, I am starting an email thread to continue the discussion. I am not doing this to poke fun of my only son, I just want to respond to Danielle as remaining silent when I feel like I have to explain is not something that is in my nature. So let me talk and I will try to make it brief, but I like writing so no promises.

Danielle, thanks for your honesty. I like that you felt comfortable enough with me to tell me what is on your mind. I encourage everyone to be this way. We are in the community to correct and be corrected, if needed, in a loving way. This is the only way we can accomplish anything as one body. The last thing your Tito Bong & I would want to do is to "pull rank" on the youth leaders as we are aware that you are instrumental in accomplishing the work. This is after all your ministry. Remember however, that we are not here just to feed you (YFLs) and find you a venue, we are here to make sure that the overall mission of CFCFFL is being carried properly via the YFL ministry. One of our tasks is to ensure that every member is growing spiritually and that every member is given a chance to grow into a leadership position. Our work is not finished until every YFL is transitioned to the next level of the ministry - college based into SFL. So, if it seems that we are rushing you to the next level, it's only because this is part of our job description. As much as we want to keep everyone at their current position at being a Cluster/Chapter Head, we need to move up the younger generation so that they can be given a chance to realize their own calling as leaders in this ministry. At 18, a YFL should already be on his/her way to joining the College-based. Most of our Cluster/Chapter Heads are over the age of 18.

We need to know who will be replacing everyone and we need to start training them ASAP. We cannot put the growth of the ministry on hold while everyone is discerning. We need to have a clear transition plan. Let's face it, the ministry is dwindling in membership. This may not be evident in the North and Central Clusters but this is very evident in the South Clusters. Check the census. I am not saying that the leaders are remiss in their responsibilities, I'm just simply pointing out the reality that there is work to be done. We need leaders that can devote the time to the task at hand. A leader should be able to really look at himself/herself and be honest enough to say "I can no longer handle this position because of school and work." There are plenty of work in the ministry outside of being a Cluster/Chapter head. There are mission works. With everyone's experience, older YFLs can be the "go to" people to be speakers, etc. So, when I say "move forward," I did not say it to mean that I'm scrapping the old YFLs into some sort of a retirement home, I want everyone to move forward to something better and where everyone's talents can be utilized to the fullest. This is what I also meant when I say that we can't remain idle. We have to constantly change in either our position or the work that we are doing. Otherwise, we rot or get burned out.

Someone has to have the final say on who becomes the next Cluster Head and as in any family structure, the final say cannot fall on the lap of the child. Try telling your parents what to do and see how fast you get sent to your room. So there's no compromise on this issue, I'm sorry. But as with any family, a good deliberation is key to making an important decision. So it can only be final if all can come to an agreement. The Cluster Heads can recommend to the Parent Coordinators their replacements. The PC can either agree or ask the Cluster Heads to defend their choice. A Parent Coordinator can't assign anyone on a whim, of course, they also have to defend their choices. The Program Volunteers can also assist in the deliberation. The Area PC can also help if necessary but hopefully the Holy Spirit will do the work in the first dialogue already and present to both the CH and the PC the best candidates for the role.

I apologize if my email earlier seemed pushy but I hope with this long email, I have explained what I meant and didn't end up making everyone more upset. We can discuss, if not on Saturday, we can set another time. Our hearts and minds have to be one, I agree one hundred percent. The planning this Saturday will only work if everyone (YFLs and Parent Coordinators) remain open to changes and are willing to work extra hard. If not, Sept 21 will all be for nothing but one potluck get together.

Hi Tita Beth,

I'm glad you've explained it a little more clearly to all of us what you meant on the other email. And it makes sense. This ministry doesn't just end in one but the process is to go through KFL to YFL to College Based to SFL and so on. Womb to tomb ministry if God calls us to stay. And because many of us are over 18, we all should have started to discern about who will be the next cluster head/chapter head/household head/PV/etc. I completely understand the process.

But I'm still having a real difficult time in understanding why the final say of replacements go to the parent coordinators. I am in no way eliminating you or any of the parents in the youth's discernment process because I do believe that the youth should always work hand in hand with the parents in everything. Whether it be a meeting or the discernment of camp leaders and future leaders of the ministry. And you guys definitely see things as much as we do in terms of what each youth of NJ can offer. Parents play a huge role in all of this. But it's the youth's discernment. We were all appointed by The Lord not only to lead and guide our individual areas but we were also blessed with the responsibility of praying, pastoring, building a relationship with the brother/sister who will ultimately be our replacement. I agree with you.. Decisions should be made with prior discussion and with lots of prayers on both sides, the youth and the parents. However, when all is done, the cluster heads and even Law and myself should have the right to have the final say on who we think God is calling to step up. And you mentioned how parents can't assign anyone on a whim without involving the youth but with my knowledge, 3 youth have already been asked. I only found out after they've been told about the possibility. I'm not trying to cause any tension or some kind of fight between youth and the parents. I want all of us to work together to get NJ where God wants us to be. But please understand us and our hearts. And I speak on behalf of Law and our cluster heads. I know that there's been a lack of moving in all of our parts and we'll try our hardest to fix everything that needs to be fixed and do everything that needs to be done. The joy of building a relationship with a sister or a brother, witnessing their growth, praying for them in every way and finding out that God is leading you to ask them to be a better clusterhead than you ever were is something I don't want to take away from the youth. And as I've said, parents NEED to be involved in this entire process.

I apologize if I'm not seeing eye to eye with you on this. I promise I'm taking everything in and really trying to see your perspective but I just can't on this one issue. And like you, Tita Beth, I can't be silent on something I feel strongly about. Please try and understand?
