Once again the attendance was very disappointing this past Sunday (03/12/2012). As per email below from Hare Krishna das, we will not be entertaining any last minute requests or requirements from those that are not attending the meetings. If you unable to attend the meetings, the onus is on you to communicate with the committee regarding your respective service/responsibilities.

 

The final meeting will be held on Wednesday 05 Dec 2012 @ 7pm. All outstanding issues will have to be resolved at this meeting. All tent leaders are required to be present at this meeting.

 

As you all know, Ratha Yatra is one of our biggest festivals which provides an amazing opportunity for thousands of people to come in touch with Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. Now is the time we all should come together, work together, cooperate with each other and be united in purpose to make Ratha Yatra a huge success simply for the pleasure of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, Subhadra and HDG Srila Prabhupada.

 

Below is a wonderful quote I read this morning regarding devotee unity:

 

"If we just maintain this mood of our humble disposition and tolerant attitude, everything will become all right and this will generate a wonderful strength of Krishna consciousness, Krishna-prema. This Krishna-prema will unify the whole world. Kali will try to divide, create dissention among the devotees and that is how Kali will enter into the movement. In the past we have seen so many times Kali has entered into Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's sankirtana movement in the form of quarrel among the devotees.

So many times Srila Prabhupada warned us that this movement cannot be destroyed from outside. Only from within this movement can be destroyed because if there are attacks from outside, that will actually strengthen our movement. Attacks will come from outside and we will counteract that attack, we will overpower that attack and we will become strong. Because who can defeat Krishna and His devotees? Who can defeat Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's sankirtana movement? Nobody. But if the devotees start to fight among themselves, that will be the cause of our destruction. Only that can destroy the progress of Mahaprabhu's sankirtana movement. Nothing can destroy Mahaprabhu's sankirtana movement, but what they can do is stifle the progress of Mahaprabhu's sankirtana movement. Therefore we should be very careful that among ourselves we do not fight. We should maintain a wonderful spirit of unity generated out of our love and friendship for each other."

It was most disappointing to see so few devotees attending the meeting held on Sunday(25/11/2012). No apologies were sent in which is also very disappointing. The festival is 3 weeks away and a lot still has to be done. It is assumed that the marquee owners who didnt attend are prepared for the festival and that they have no issues wrt the festival.

Our next  meeting is on Sunday(02/11/2012). Your attendance is vital so that we can resolve any issues that are still outstanding and we will not entertain any last minute requirement or arrangement.

We also require devotees to assist in the marquees and to perform other duties.Please send in you names if you havent already done so to the organising committee members(a notice has been put on the notice board at the temple with their names on it).
