Good afternoon,

I hope you're having a great week! I’m thrilled to share some exciting news from the National Network for Youth — in partnership with Baker Mckenzie, we’re launching a brand-new resource to break down barriers for young people across the country: I Am Here: Vital Document Legal Hotline for Youth!

  • Phone Number: 1-800-870-DOCS (1-800-870-3627)

  • Start Date: Wednesday, July 23, 2025

  • Hours: Every Wednesday from 12 to 8 PM Eastern | 11 AM to 7 PM Central | 10 AM to 6 PM Mountain | 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific

  • Voicemails: Outside of working hours, callers can leave voicemails that will be returned.

  • Callers: Any young person, or anyone assisting a young person, who has questions about obtaining vital documents.

  • Phone Operators: Legal professionals from Baker McKenzie and pro bono lawyers from other corporations.

  • Goal: Provide state-specific guidance on obtaining vital documents.

Youth experiencing homelessness are encouraged to use this hotline, as they often face significant obstacles to obtaining documents. Without these documents, accessing services such as housing, education, and employment becomes exceedingly difficult, thereby prolonging their homeless situation.

The hotline is staffed by pro bono attorneys from Baker McKenzie and other leading corporations — real legal experts ready to provide free, state-specific guidance on getting:

  • State ID cards or driver’s licenses

  • Birth certificates

  • Social Security cards

  • Other documents needed to obtain ID

Help us spread the word!

Please use and share our communications toolkit — complete with flyers, FAQs, and sample social media posts — to ensure young people and their allies know this life-changing resource exists.

If you have any questions, reach out to us at nn4y...@nn4youth.org. For media inquiries, contact Kaila at kaila...@nn4youth.org.

Thank you for all you do — and for helping us ensure no young person is left behind because they can’t access the documents they need.

With gratitude,

Darla
