NACC Conference program is here!

 

NACC’s 48th National Child Welfare Law Conference - August 11-13 and November 12-14, 2025 
The National Association of Counsel for Children invites you to join us onsite and/or online for our 48th National Child Welfare Law Conference.  This year’s theme is Catalysts for Change: Innovating Advocacy through Power Sharing and Transformational Leadership.  NACC offers two national conference formats: Onsite August 11-13 at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown, and online November 12-14 with a brand-new agenda!  In Cleveland, NACC will also host a pre-conference Trial Skills Training, Red Book Training, and Children’s Law Office Convening. The Cleveland event will sell out, so

This year's conferences will underscore the need to rethink traditional advocacy models, actively share power, and harness the creativity and resourcefulness of all involved in child welfare systems to drive lasting, meaningful practice and policy reform.

 

Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including: elevating lived experience, advocating for indigenous youth, leveraging constitutional rights, language access and equity, representing immigrants, protecting transgender youth, kinship care, reunification, and so much more! We will come together with our community to learn how we can best advocate alongside children and families, despite uncertain times. We hope you'll join us!

The Child Welfare Law Red Book Training is NACC’s signature training, designed to provide a comprehensive overview of child welfare law and practice as well as to assist attorneys in preparing for the Child Welfare Law Specialist certification exam.

 

This one-day, in-person training will cover the following areas of the Red Book, as well as practice exam questions:

 

  • Overarching Legal Structure and Themes
  • Legal Case from Beginning to End
  • Discrete Issues
  • Lawyering Roles
  • Essential Lawyering Skills

Training Tier 2: Trial Skills for Child Welfare Attorneys

Children's Law Office Project Convening 2025

August 10

 

NACC’s Children’s Law Office Project Convening provides specialized training for the leaders and managers of nonprofit children’s law offices, government agencies, and private firms providing children’s legal representation.

 

This convening offers opportunities for senior leaders and emerging leaders to learn best practices in organizational representation of children and youth. Box lunch included.
