Before she married New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez in 2020, his current wife
cheated on her attorney lover with the Democratic politician, a key source
revealed to the New York Post.
During the couple's wild courtship, Menendez, 69, allegedly sent Capitol
Police officers to his rival’s office to “bully him out of the picture,”
attorney Douglas Anton told the Post.
Anton, who unsuccessfully defended musician R. Kelly against sex
trafficking charges, said he began dating Nadine Arslanian Menendez in
2011 and did some legal work for her. (Kelly was sentenced earlier this
year to 20 years in prison.)
Sen. Menendez, who stepped down earlier this month as chairman of the
Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is accused — along with his wife — of
accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes, including “cash,
gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show
job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value,” in exchange for using
his power and influence to benefit three businessmen and the Republic of
Egypt between 2018 and 2022.
The couple pleaded not guilty to the charges in Manhattan federal court on
Wednesday.
Arslanian, who was born in 1967 in Beirut, Lebanon, in a wealthy Armenian
household, has a history of high-profile partying.
She has been photographed whooping it up with cast members of the TV
series Real Housewives of New Jersey and the film Mob Wives.
She reportedly met her future husband in 2008 at the IHOP in New Jersey,
where she often took her two children to dine during her commute with them
from her home in the state to their school, the Lycée Français in
Manhattan.
