As a public service and a kind of free abbreviated Angie's list:

Recommended restaurants:

E&V, 320 Chamberlain Ave., Paterson; eat-in or take out. Has Italian
dishes you can't find anywhere else. Been there for years. Cash only; no
credit cards.

Casa Rosa, 246 McBride Ave., Paterson (near the falls). Also been
there many years thru many owners, but same good Italian food.

If you really want to go high class--The Manor, 111 Prospect Ave.,
West Orange. Expensive.

Supermarkets: ShopRite. Lowest prices, good selection. (BTW, prices other
than in their weekly circular can vary by store)

Pharmacies: Local neighborhood drugstores have much higher prices than the
chains like CVS, ShopRite, and Walgreen. But the on-line pharmacies are
even cheaper--much cheaper in some cases. If you qualify, you can get
really low prices through NJ discount mail-order pharmacies like the PAAD
program.

Avoid:

Comcast cable. Lousy in nearly every way. If they're the cable
provider in your area, go with DirecTV (satellite)

St. Mary's hospital, Passaic. Poor service, unnecessary tests,
uncaring staff, high bills...

Their pizza & mussles is a favorite. Scrimp scampi was also
exceptional but haven't had it in a while.

The Rx4NJ.com is also a very low cost subsidized program for a lot of
medications if you qualify.

Wasn't St Mary's going bankrupt? They should have--they're a cross
between Bernie Mackoff and Dacau.
