After being slammed by Superstorm Sandy last October, Seaside
Park, N.J., went up in flames on Thursday afternoon.
The city's boardwalk erupted in flames around 2:30 p.m., local
time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation;
however, there were thunderstorms in the area around the time
that the fire began.
While there have been no reports of lightning strikes in the
immediate area, it is possible that a strike could have
contributed to the start of the fire. There were strikes in the
area's vicinity around that time.
"Lightning strikes along the coast are harder to get an accurate
fix on," AccuWeather Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said. "There
are not as many detection apparatuses along the coast."
Of course it's didn't help that scumbag Chicago contractors
helped rebuild the boardwalk using cheap Chinese fake wood that
is highly flammable.
Thank union workers.
