Course Purpose:
This specific IEMC will place emphasis on the State of New Jersey’s risks, response capability, Core Capabilities, and short-term recovery issues. The course is tailored to fit the State and will be based on a selected hazard scenario. Course methodologies include classroom instruction, group planning sessions, and exercises that allow for structured decision-making in a learning environment. A key outcome of this IEMC is to provide participants with the awareness and skills to carry out emergency plans, policies, and procedures related to disaster recovery and assist with making the transition from response activities to short-term recovery.

Prerequisite:
Recommended
  • IS-100.c, Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
  • IS-200.c, Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
  • IS-700.b, An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Course Objectives:
  • Analyze community emergency plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify additional planning needs.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Improve teams and coordination.
  • Improve response/recovery capabilities.

Target Audience:
The IEMC is designed for personnel who perform specific emergency support responsibilities
within their community. A sample of appropriate attendees include:
  • Chief elected and appointed officials from Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial
  • emergency management agencies
  • Senior level personnel from response agencies and organizations (law enforcement, fire,
  • emergency medical services, public health, public works, etc.)
  • Leaders or representatives from volunteer organizations
  • Representatives from private organizations who participate in response and recovery.
