Where the Fire & EMS Services Meets Technology

Real learning that you bring back home. TSI isn’t your standard expo floor experience. The leading technology partners are here, but the real value comes from sessions where you can dig in with hands-on, face-to-face, and problem-focused experiences. This is your chance to test tools, question experts, and explore opportunities and challenges with the brightest minds in the fire service. What you take home won’t be brochures or buzzwords; it will be ideas, strategies, and connections you can put to work in your department the next day.

TSI First Responders Innovation Award sponsored by IDEX

If you are a first responder using technology to solve real-world challenges, we’re looking for you. Six first responder agencies will have the opportunity to take the stage, pitch for eight minutes, and showcase how they’ve leveraged innovation to improve public safety and create new efficiencies in their departments.

This is your chance to share your story and compete for the TSI Innovation Award in front of an audience of your peers.

TSI Student Academia and Research Opportunity
TSI is inviting one or two students from any University that is working on fire service or fire science research to showcase their work. Each selected student will have space for a poster board display and a short opportunity to present their project in front of the audience. IAFC will also provide special discounted registration to make participation easier. Do you have any students or projects in mind that would be a strong fit for this?

Free Training for Volunteer & Combination Fire Departments

These one-day, no-cost training courses are designed to help fire departments strengthen team dynamics and improve member retention—through group discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning—not passive listening.
  • Building Collaborative Teams | Oct. 18, 2025
  • Recruitment & Retention Coordinator Certification | Oct. 19, 2025
Loudoun County Combined Fire & Rescue HQ | 801 Sycolin Road, Leesburg, VA 20175

IAFC Submits Congressional Testimony on Public Safety Communications
On September 9, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Communications and Technology Subcommittee held a hearing titled “Public Safety Communications in the United States”. During the hearing, important topics such as removing FirstNet’s sunset date, Next Generation 9-1-1 were discussed.

Before the hearing, Chief Steven Locke, First Vice President of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, submitted testimony to the hearing record. In it, the IAFC provided an extensive background into the FirstNet Authority, our desire to preserve FirstNet for long into the future and addressed other telecommunications priorities.

What Firefighters Want 2025: Aggressive + Safe Tactics

What Firefighters Want in 2025 is available for download. Access the number one resource for fire service leaders seeking to elevate their understanding of their members’ on-the-job experience.

About WFW
The What Firefighters Want project calls on all active firefighters to share their opinions and insights through FireRescue1’s comprehensive survey that goes beyond statistical exercise to serve as a platform for firefighters to voice their concerns, aspirations and ideas for evolution within the profession. The project is sponsored by FirstNet, Built with AT&T and supported by the International Public Safety Data Institute (IPSDI) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC).

This year's report examined how firefighters view the relationship between safety and tactical aggression. The results reveal both alignment and disconnect.

Responder Sleep Deprivation
Help Tackle Sleep Deprivation and Fatigue in the Fire Service
We all know the fire service comes with unique challenges, including long shifts, late-night calls, and generally disrupted sleep that most people cannot imagine.

NDRI and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) are running a national study titled Firefighter Investigative Research on Essential Zzz (FIREZzz), evaluating sleep hygiene in career and volunteer firefighters. They want to hear from you as they strive to better understand how sleep patterns and fatigue truly affect overall firefighter health, safety, and well-being. Your experience will help:
  • Identify the biggest sleep-related challenges firefighters face
  • Explore how sleep, or lack of sleep, impacts overall health, safety, and job performance
  • Develop real-world recommendations to improve firefighter sleep
Your experiences and insights are vital to helping improve firefighters' health and safety, and we thank you for taking time out of your demanding schedule to contribute to this important work.

New CRM Manual Empowers to Prevent Injuries and Deaths Before They Happen
Crew_Resource_Mgmt_300x250_3140328.jpg
The IAFC's Safety, Health, and Survival Section (SHS) in partnership with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) released the fourth edition of the Crew Resource Management (CRM) Manual during Fire-Rescue International (FRI) 2025. This time-tested resource is designed to strengthen firefighter decision-making, communication, and overall team performance.

The updated edition underscores a critical truth: human error remains the leading cause of preventable incidents in the fire service, particularly during periods of fatigue, routine, or extreme stress.
