2014 Fall Home & Garden Show Update!

As of right now, we have 23 authors participating in the show with over 55 titles, as well as our wonderful local bookstore partner Tina Jacobsen.

YAY!  Thank you everyone for stepping up!

Okay, good news / bad news time.

The good news:

Our 10x10 booth has been expanded into a 10x20. Yes! More room to spread out everyone’s titles. I’ve also added one additional time slot for authors on the schedule, so if you want more time at the show, please take a look and let me know ASAP!

(G.Groups not letting me attach the file. Let me know if you want to see the schedule, if I haven't already sent it directly)

Tonya and Athena - I already added you guys to Sat & Sun mornings, respectively.

Ripley, Andy & Courtney – I whoopsed the time for Thu & Fri scheduling, as the show opens an hour later (11am) on those days. Please note my adjustments and let me know if they still work for you.

Tina – April B and Laurel S have been added to the booklist since the last update I sent you.

The bad news…or at least less good news:

As of right now all of the furniture stores I contacted to borrow bookshelves have told me we’re out of luck. I’m scavenging craigslist, looking for anyone willing to give me a smoking deal, but have not been successful thus far. So, as it stands now, I myself have 3 small & 2 tall bookshelves I can empty of their contents and bring. Andy mentioned he had a long/low shelf he could bring, I’m thinking to put in front of an author table (I have plenty of folding tables).  I’d really like at least 4 more, tall bookshelves preferably. Can anyone help?

Move in – 5pm, at the Portland Expo Center. Our booth space is 253/255.

Please verify to me how you are getting your books to the show (if I don’t already have them). FYI, I’ll probably get there a bit earlier than that to lay down the turf that’s going on the floor (so much cushier for feet) and to haul in the bookshelves I’m bringing. (Thanks goodness for hubby and a 20 foot trailer.)

NOTE: If you have a book stand to stand up your title, please bring it. Be sure it has your name on it, however, so it doesn’t accidentally go home with someone else. I have a number of them, and I’m sure the lovely Tina will bring some spares, but I don’t want to have to rely on her.

Show Entrance: Unless you take Max, you’ll have to pay for parking (unless your arrival is after 4pm, when parking is free. Those scheduled for 4pm, feel free to come a few minutes late.) Entrance to the show itself will be free, however. Go to the Will Call desk and tell them you’re with the NIWA booth. They’ll have your names on a list I’ll provide them and will either stamp your hand or give you a ticket. Easy peasy!

Author tables – I am thinking our layout will include a back table, where we will keep the bags/square/sales stuff and personal items (on or under). Then I will have a table more up front where I was thinking we would lay out the books of each of the authors currently working the show.  Keep in mind, a 6 foot table for 4-5 authors isn’t huge, but feel free to bring some small bits of bling or marketing material for your titles to add to your display. No large posters or baskets, please. And of course, we always dress for success. No dress code, per se, but please remember you’re trying to impress your public into buying from you. Biz casual recommended.

Break Down – We will be breaking down our booth as soon as the show is complete at 6pm on Sunday. Please let me know if you’re planning to show up for that, if only to collect your books, or if you want me or someone else to take them with us.

I think that’s all. Is that all?

Please feel free to let me know if I missed something. :)

Hiya Roslyn!

Do you still have my box of books? Feel like carting them over and selling them for $10 a pop? Feel free to keep back anything that would be my reasonable contribution fee, or I could send that separately. Let me know!

Cheers,
