Dear Friends,

We are extremely sorry to hear the sad demise of Prof. K. M. Hebbar, former HoD, Dept. of E&C Engineering, NITK Surathkal.   He passed away this morning at his Bangalore residence at the age of 84 Years.

Prof. Hebbar was one of the greatest teachers of our department of all times.  He served as the Head of the Department of E&C Engg. for more than 10 years, HoD of EE Dept.  and HoD of CSE dept. for over 5 years each.  He was an unassuming person and was technically very active  till his last days.  We have lost an excellent teacher and a noble human being.

He donated money to the institute to honor the student with best academic record in B.Tech. (EE) with a Gold Medal.

He donated his retirement benefits of about Rs. 10 Lakhs to "Keshav Shishu Mandir", a school for underprivileged children near NITK.

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the department, we express our condolences to the bereaved family.

May his soul rest in peace.
