During yesterday's meeting I got to spend about 2 hrs with him. It actually felt as though I knew him for decades. Ironically, he mentioned  the phrase twice  'we are affectionate to the KREC soil....' during his introduction. He had a hearty laugh with Nagabrahman pulling his leg on a couple of occasions. 

I can only say that it all unfolded in front of us with such swiftness. It felt unreal and surreal for several hours. I am yet to get over the dramatic events of sunday evening... Incredible

That was indeed a dramatic /sad situation that we had at the North Zone meet in Bangalore on 30th June evening   . I was one of the fortunate to meet and interact with KG Bhat as I came to North Zone leaving the West zone meet to other admin team .

 

Attached is the last Email communication I had with Mr. Bhat , that clearly shows his zeal to serve the college activity in what ever the way possible, even at the age of 72 years . You may also see his enthusiasm as he spoke for 15 min , narrating the life at NITK in 60s  in the pictures attached here (2 files)

 

 Also attached are the visiting cards of mr. Bhat what I got today  from him .

 

But , all the NITKIan s (13 of us ) who gathered  there showed their great concern/duty  by accompanying to the Hospital and waiting for all formalities to get over till end . That is clear demonstration of us (NITKians) to be together  at time of joy and greif situation in LIFE . Lets go ahead strong ....

 

Lastly ...

May mr. Bhat's soul rest in peace and may God give strength and courage to his relatives/friends/coleagues to bear this greif situation...

Shri K G Bhat very tragically breathed his last, during the NITK North zone meet today evening at Sanjaynagar.

He had just spoken for nearly 15 minutes, enthusiastically giving  details from the time he joined KREC in 1961 till his current work in Nisiki and about his family.  We were all so happy to see a 70 year old so excited,  happy and active ! He even confirmed thst he would be attending the next Global Convention in San Jose...

He just finished his speaking,  sat down, seemed to be out of breath. ..collapsed before we could even get him a glass of water....it was too late by the time we could get him to Ramaiah Hospital.

His son is expected to arrive from Delhi tomorrow morning. Daughter is in the US...decision on his last rites is yet to be taken by his family members.

He had no history of high BP or Diabetes.

May his soul rest in peace....
