Query - Weightage of GATE score

Hi,

My name is Vishnu Chevli. I am short-listed for NITIE GDPI. I
qualified GATE - CS with GATE score 709. Frankly speaking, I think I
didn't get this call on base of my GATE score only. It must be base on
other aspect.

Now my question is :
1) What will be weightage of GATE score for final selection?
2) If GATE score does not matter after getting call, then what other
aspects cout and any approx weightage?
3) (One more thing) How much weightage will be given to technical
questions in interview?

Hi Vishnu,

It has been mentioned zillion times that student committee assisting in the admission process are never aware about the exact criteria used by the college authorities.

We don't have an exact idea about what weightage is given to each criteria. Numerous number of mails have been received by aspirants who ask this same old question again and again. In case someone is new to the group, we advice him to thoroughly go through the google group. I am sure he/she will find all the answers there.

Based on my own judgment, I think Gate score definitely has some weightage. Your score, 709, is in itself good enough to get you a call from NITIE. Your intuition, that some other things also matter, is right. There are things such as educational performance in the past, work-experience, extra-curricular activities that are believed to have an impact on shortlist. However, we reiterate that we can't comment on how much weightage is given to these parameters.

It's hard to say how much weightage is given to 'technical' questions. How your interview panel assesses the candidate, also depends on their subjective opinions about him/her. However, in case you are a fresher, do go a little bit through your engineering books. Most professors in NITIE have engineering background. So, there is an inherent possibility that they might ask you few technical questions. But again, that depends on the panel members. There is no fixed quota for technical questions.


To all the aspirants,

Please do go through the google group at least once whenever you have any doubts. Same queries are received again and again. Don't send an email just on an impulse.
Remember that once you are in a top B-school like NITIE, you won't be spoon-fed every time.
