IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), Kerala section invites proposals from the students of IEEE Kerala section on projects of innovative communication technologies or applications which could be of mass /rural public / humanitarian usage. This initiative is expected to provide an impetus to the technical activities among students towards and also to aid them in transforming themselves as socially-responsible engineers. This activity is jointly done with the R10 HTAG (Humanitarian Technology Affinity Group), which is formed recently.
Terms and Conditions for proposal
· Project proposals are to be submitted as one page brief write-up
· Selection of proposals will be based on the following evaluation metrics:
· Innovation content
· Technology content
· Potential for mass utilisation
· Feasibility of product realisation
· Scalability
· Advantage over similar products/ technologies, if any
· Humanitarian value addition
· Cost estimate for final product
· Cost estimate for system development
· Proposals will be subjected to two levels of screening
· First level of screening will be based on the brief write-up on the proposed project and certificates will be awarded for the selected abstracts / themes.
· Second level of screening will be based on presentations of the proposed projects. Selected projects will be given certificates/ prizes
· Selected one/two/three projects (depending on the quality of the proposal and other evaluation criteria stated above) shall be given part-funding support and/or technical support for project development
· Maximum duration of project development shall be 12 months.
· The amount of funding shall be decided based on the availability of fund and the recommendation of Level2 screening committee as above.
· The IP (if any) for the product/technology will be jointly held by Comsoc and the development team.
· The completed projects may be showcased by ComSoc, which may be useful to the people all over the world.
· The local responsibility of project implementation will be with the respective student Counselor of the college, to which the students belong.
· The overall responsibility of the initiative will lie with Comsoc, IEEE Kerala section.
