Subject: Gautham here from Jnaapti

Hello,

When I was in NIT, Calicut, I remember running into quite a few enthusiastic students who were enquiring about projects, internship and training. I had shared my email id, but as expected, none of them got in touch with me and now I don't even remember their names!

I wanted a help from you in this regard. I just wanted to know if anyone in your college would be interested in internship projects in startups. If so, I would like to get in touch with them (needless to say, that includes you).

Now, there are two things - students may already be good enough to work on internship projects. If so, I put them in touch with these startups directly. If not, students may need to build certain skills before they can work on internship projects.

Jnaapti has a program where we coach students when they are in their engineering. The coaching is conducted remotely using a custom-built product called the Virtual Learning Environment (http://jnaapti.com/products/vle) over a period of 3-6 months. The coaching helps students appreciate the subjects they learn, strengthen their fundamentals and build skills that they can use in the industry. The coaching is completey hands-on and activity based. There are no classroom sesssions or spoon feeding. Every student is given individual attention. Students can be part of this program when their college is on.

The way this program works is, we first do a skill analysis of the students to identify their strengths and weaknesses. We then consider his/her interests and chalk out a program which is custom created according to the student's needs. We then help students build these skills by making students work on activities. Activities could be coding problems, design problems etc. Activities are chosen such that as the student solves them, they learn some new skill and helps them master their interest areas.

While the talk I gave in NITC provides theoretical knowledge to students, the coaching program is meant to give students, hands-on experience in things like big-data, search, etc.

In terms of cost, the program costs the student Rs. 2500/- per month for the coaching.

Once students complete this program, we help them get internship projects in Bangalore. I already have quite a few startups that have signed up with Jnaapti to recruit students who successfully complete the coaching program and I will have more startups in my list soon. The kind of work that these companies do are in these areas: data analytics, data mining, information retrieval, big data analysis, search, black hat testing etc and almost all of them use open source technologies.

Let me know if you or any of your friends/classmates would be interested.

Thanks and regards,
