I've been using Ubuntu since last 5 years. I wasn't a hardcore user then. But since I got my own PC, I became one. I tried my best to show my friends how easy, fast, secure and AWESOME Ubuntu is. But nobody seemed to care. I don't know why??!!!! Is it because games don't run smoothly on Linux? Well, you can't blame the Linux community for that! Blame the companies that produce the games or the ones that don't produce drivers for graphics cards for linux systems. When a game doesn't run on windoze(i love saying this :P) generally everybody blames the game vendors that they didn't provide support for that version but they say exactly the opposite when a program or game doesn't run on linux. For the record, linux community has created WINE and other such emulators for giving linux users the freedom to use whatever they like. Try finding some freedom you get with windoze. Then blame linux for being "inadequate"

Hi,

As far as I have seen, it is not a tendency to reject. It is more of inertia amongst people to move from their comfortable zone. Most of the people who reject using GNU/Linux will readily use it even as through command line if their work requires them to do so. And then they will appreciate it. Even you can look at people using Android phones. I dont see anyone complaining that it is not Windoze(Even I like to call it like that :)). That is because, they have got used to it. Similarly if people start using GNU/Linux right from the start, I am sure they will feel Windoze to be less user friendly compared to any GNU/Linux distribution.

True! I find people using android too. Maybe it's because of the
intensity at which it is being used by different vendors. Soon Meebo
will come into the picture too. I loved the way Intel rejected Windoze
and took up the project for Meebo.

Its Meego, BTW. :). Yes even I am eagerly waiting for a Meego smartphone.
Nokia has announced N9, http://swipe.nokia.com/ which probably has a Meego. But not very sure about it.
