Regarding continuation of campus placement in december month(winter vacation)

This year no doubt our placement team are doing a lot for us,but due to recent economic slowdown ,many companies have rejected or had delayed to come,and this is clear from past results of IIT placements too in December,with just 60% placements ,as per my knowledge i knew almost 900 invitations were sent by IIT Kgp ,and out of which only 60 responded ,with 450 placements out of 1400 students.My brother at IIT Guwahati too told me same worse  thing  happen at IIT g where students were made to run for job even at patni computer system.

So what in my mind is that IIT,s are starting their campus placement in December,so my idea would be to continue the campus  placement  even in during that winter vacation,as by that time there would be some recovery in slowdown and also companies going to IIT may come to NIT campus during that hiring in December.

Yes, the placement team is trying to put their best efforts. I think
it would be helpful if we can contact the placement societies of other
NITs and come to know what companies are visiting them this year
rather than what had visited them last year. This way, we would come
to know which are the companies actually going for placements this
sem.

As far as I can contribute, I have come to know from a friend in NIT
Nagpur that Oracle has already given them concrete dates on which they
would be visiting them. Oracle, has been, in the past few years quite
active in the placement scenario visiting major NITs. So, it would
help if the placement team follow them. No doubt that invitation has
already been sent to Oracle but what we need is to do in case of
companies who are visiting other campuses this sem is to actually
contact them-maybe over phone- and ask them to come and come to know
what they expect reagrding student turnout and other things- the
students in the placement team would know better.
