Respected Sir/Madam,

This is to inform you that the research students of the Department of Computer Science and Automation (CSA) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) are organizing the annual *CSA Undergraduate Summer School (CSAUSS)* during 3rd - 8th July, 2017. This is the fifth CSAUSS being conducted with the past four versions being a tremendous success.

IISc is widely regarded as one of India's foremost institutions of advanced research, and the Department of Computer Science and Automation (CSA) at IISc is a pioneering academic center for higher education, research, and innovation in key areas of computer science.

CSAUSS is a popular program aimed at Computer Science/Information Technology undergraduates who have completed their third year of B.E./B.Tech from prominent engineering colleges across the country. Previous editions of CSAUSS have received thousands of applications, from which 60-70 are carefully selected, giving due representation to academic record, gender, location, and social diversity.

The goal of the program is to introduce young students to contemporary CS research, with regard to both concepts and implementation. To this end, the program will include posters, demonstrations and lectures from CSA faculty and students, enriched with presentations by leading researchers from industry and sister academic institutions. Moreover, ample opportunity would be provided for the students to interact with research students at CSA to gain a holistic understanding of the thrills of tackling challenging contemporary intellectual problems.
