VGA capture

I hope I don't break any rules using this group to get the information
that I need. :) If I have I apologize and I promise I wont do it again
until I hit the wall, just like I have done it now. :D I have searched
for solution, but it includes expensive (for me) equipment and I'm
looking for simple software solution (if it's possible).

What I would like to do is to capture VGA (XGA, 1024x768, to be more
accurate) signal from my computer. Screen capture software isn't an
option (or anything else that needs to be installed on computer from
which I'm doing capture), capture should be done over VGA connector. I
have VGA to S-Video and Composite cable

and I have digital video capture card (Avermedia H830) that has
S-video and Composite in.

Problem is that card is expecting TV signal (NTSC or PAL) and I'm
sending XGA signal (1024x768@60Hz). I believe that it's software
problem and that it could be solved with right software. I have tried
several of them, and none of them has an option to chose XGA - they
all expect NTSC or PAL.

Can someone, who knows the hardware and software, confirm me that this
is just software problem? And if it is, than suggest me which software
to use to solve this challenge. ;)

For most cards it's not a software problem. Most cards have a video
capture hardware that supports only TV signal. If you can't configure
VGA output on a target computer, or use TV output on it, there is a
cheaper solution, a vga - tv converter (like this:
