Hello!

I'm new to using the NIST HL7 V2 General Validation Tool, and I'm trying to figure out if I can export a copy of a profile that is under the APHL tool scopes: HHS_2.5.1_v20220302.

My purpose is to print out a report for that profile as I'm trying to leverage it to create a new national profile for a large healthcare organization for electronic reportable conditions.

I haven't been able to follow the documentation under the NIST IGAMT or anywhere else to export a profile report, and am wondering if someone could point me to the steps if it's at all even possible to print a report for that profile (HHS_2.5.1_v20220302).

Just FYI, when I submitted my request to the NIST-IGAMT-TCAMT Google Groups, based on the link on the IGAMT page, I immediately received an email response saying I had been granted access to this group. I went back to the IGAMT home page to find the link to the googlegroups to post this message but get a message saying that I didn't have permission to post. I went back to my inbox to see if I had imagined that I was granted permission, and sure enough I was, but the link at the bottom of that email response included a link not to the googlegroups linked on the IAGMT page, but to this NIST-GVT google groups. Also the email address (which I used first) bounces.

Congratulations, your request to join the NIST-GVT group was approved by a group moderator.

Hi !

I just approved your account on the NIST-IGAMT-TCAMT group. I’ll have a closer look to see what happened here, but you should be able to post on both groups.

In GVT, you can only export an XML version of the profile, there is no “user friendly” export for profiles (at least, not at the moment).

Have you tried in IGAMT ? if so are you using the older version of IGAMT or IGAMT-2 ?

Caroline

Thank you for your response Caroline. I'm using the version of IGAMT found here: https://hl7v2-igamt-2.nist.gov/home

and I guess I was trying to post to a google groups for that NIST application. I don't see that the profile I am seeking to print can be found in the IGAMT tool as I tried to follow the instructions in the User Guide section How to Export Conformance Profiles, and only saw a single profile that could be printed out as a report  I am really only looking for a report of the message segment/field constraints, data types, and conformance statements, that appear in the Profile Viewer for HHS_2.5.1_v20220302.

If I understood you correctly it sounds like you said the GVT tool an only output a profile in XML format. If that is the case, can you point me to the documentation to accomplish that task? I'll then see whether I can convert it into an excel document (or word).

Thank you again,
Serafina

Hello Serafina,

In IGAMT, you have access to the following implementation guides (IG):

  • IGs you created
  • IGs that were shared with you (for example, for collaborative work)
  • IGs that are published by their author

You don’t have access to other users’ IGs (unless they were shared with you, or published).

In GVT, if you want to download the XML files used by validation, you need to :

  1. Select the tool scope
  2. Go under Documentation > [Tool scope]’s Documents > Test Case Documentation
  3. See in the tree under “Context Free” what profile you want to download

Congratulations, your request to join the NIST-GVT group was approved by a group moderator.
