I'm taking a moment out from the mad dash to write my upcoming violin & piano duo, A Suivre, to write to you about a couple of events coming up in the next few weeks.
Je prends un moment de mon hâte d'écrire mon prochain morceau pour duo de violon et piano, A Suivre, de vous écrire au sujet de quelques évènements qui se passeraient dans les semaines prochaines.

First, tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, in St. Paul and South St. Paul, old friends Flying Forms will be revisiting my Preludes for Baroque Trio (http://nissimmusic.org/music/4preludestrio.shtml), a collection of fun, slightly spooky little pieces for Baroque violin and cello, and harpsichord. The rest of the program draws from other works that Marc and Tami have commissioned, many of them much better than my own! The program on Friday is at Olivet Congregational Church (1850 Iglehart Avenue; Saint Paul, Minnesota) and costs $15. On Saturday they're playing at First United Methodist Church (140 6th Avenue North; South St Paul, Minnesota). That one's free, but they will be accepting donations. D'abord, demain (vendredi) et samedi, à St Paul et South St Paul, Minnesota, les vieux potes Flying Forms vont revisiter mes Préludes pour trio baroque, une collection des petites pièces amusantes et un peu fantastiques pour violon baroque, violoncelle baroque, et clavecin. La reste du programme exploite des autres oeuvres que Marc et Tami ont commande - dont plusieurs sont beaucoup mieux que la mienne. Vendredi on se présente à Olivet Congregational Church (1850 Iglehart Avenue; Saint Paul, Minnesota, $15) ; samedi, c'est à First United Methodist Church (140 6th Avenue North; South St Paul, Minnesota, entrée libre mais contributions acceptées).

Next, on November 30, the arrangement of the Trio I wrote this summer that I have made for flutist Kelli Kathman (plus two other flutists, in this case, Bonnie McAlvin and Roberta Michel, and a percussionist, Barrett Hipes) will get its world premiere on November 30 in New York, at the CUNY Graduate Center's Elbash Recital Hall (365 Fifth Avenue) at 7:30pm. All those flutes, playing quietly and low - they're really mostly playing alto and bass flutes - should have a beautiful effect. I've gotten incredibly excited about the possibilities of the instrumental combination, and I wish I could attend the concert! Please go in my stead!

Prochainement, le 30 novembre se présentera en création mondiale l'arrangement du trio que j'ai écrit l'été passé que j'ai fait pour la flûtiste Kelli Kathman (et aussi deux autres flûtistes, cette fois Bonnie McAlvin et Roberta Michel, et un percussionniste, Barrett Hipes). Ça se passera à New York, à Elbash Recital Hall du CUNY Graduate Center (365 Fifth Avenue) à 19h30. Toutes ces flûtes, en jouant doucement et basse - c'est en fait pour la plupart des flûtes en sol et une flûte basse - devrait avoir un effet magnifique. Je suis devenu extrêmement excite des possibilités de cet effectif d'instruments ; si seulement je pourrais être là ! Allez donc prenez ma place !

I've actually written a couple of blog posts recently, too. The first one, about systems in music, makes a lot more sense than the second one. But #2 is about adventures in making up new things (A Suivre, in particular), and that sort of thing never really makes any sense.

Mais oui, c'est vrai, j'ai récemment mis 2 articles sur mon blog. Le premier, au sujets des systèmes, est beaucoup plus logique que le 2e. Mais #2 est au sujet des aventures en inventant des choses (spécialement la susmentionnée A Suivre), et les choses comme ça ne font jamais aucun sens.

Still upcoming is the February 11 premiere of the aforementioned A Suivre in New York, and a tentative date for a string quartet concert in London sometime at the end of January or beginning of February. More on those in due time.
Toujours dans le planning est la création, 11 février à New York de A Suivre, et une date tentative pour la présentation de mes oeuvres pour quatuor à cordes à Londres à un moment pas précisé entre la fin janvier et le début février. Plus arrivera en temps voulu.
