It's the night of June 4, and I've just gotten back from a
session at "The House of Radio" (La Maison de la Radio) in Paris,
where a collection of conservatory students - not all the same ones as in
November, but many of the same - and students of Algerian percussion
performed/recorded my arrangement of the Algerian song interpreted by Idir,
Yelha Wurar. This turns out to have been my in-Paris debut, though I
didn’t know it was a public concert at the time. And thus concluded the performance part of
the odyssey that began last November with the cancellation of a concert
intended for St-Denis, and thus began the 12-day countdown for its broadcast on
France Musique's weekly program, Couleurs
du Monde. That'll be on June 16 at 10:30pm Central European Daylight
Time (4:30pm on the East Coast, 1:30pm on the West Coast). If you're in

C’est la nuit du 4 juin, et je viens
de rentrer de une séance à la Maison de la Radio à Paris, où un ensemble
d’élèves du conservatoire – pas tous les mêmes qu’un novembre – et des
étudiants de la percussion algérienne ont enregistré/se produit mon arrangement

I decided to call my orchestra piece "Scratching the Ice" I
leave straight from Blonay for Metz for the Acanthes Festival. News

J’ai décidé de nommé mon morceau pour orchestre “Scratching the Ice” (littéralement ‘Grattant la glace’, mais qui évoque l’idée de ‘scratching the surface’, d’être au tout début de quelque chose). In the midst of all that, I also did the soundtrack to a short film, a broad
comedy, perhaps even a farce, directed by Seth Lind. I got to write a
waltz! I don't usually get to do things like that. I won't say much
more about the plot than that I named the music "nice day fight fight

IL. Woot! I attended via skype, which was certainly an unusual
experience. I'll have the recording soon.
