To all,
We are
putting a call out to all Scouts, Scouters, Parents, Dens, Packs, Troops,
Crews, Teams, Posts and the Order of the Arrow to send or bring images of your
Scouts and Scouting activities to the final council-wide Roundtable (or email them) tomorrow night (see previous email text below for time and location).
We are also looking for historic Ouachita Area
Council images too, such as; old Camp Tula photos, early Ross-Rhodes pics, old
Camp Maurice, discontinued units, council, district or unit events, Camporee's,
campfires, Expo's, Jamborees, day and Akela camps, conclaves, NOAC, Order of the Arrow and Cub events,
etc.
The Council
Banquet Committee has assigned Alan Eidson to the compilation of a number of cd's of
images to be given out to the banquet attendees. The NESA committee and myself have been
collecting images and photos of our units and council activities and events. We do have access to some historic and recent materials from the council office but that doesn't cover every unit. At present, we have a number of images but we need more.
We may be able to make
more discs on demand (...for a small fee [to be determined]; collection, labor and production
are free but actual manufacture is not.) if enough people or units wish to have
a copy. Arrangements will be made on this at a later date.
You can
bring to the Roundtable; cd's, DVD's, thumb drives or hard drives (negatives,
photo albums, shoe boxes of pictures and scrapbooks will also be accepted) with
these images on them (I won't have time to download or scan them there (It does take much
time to download and scan.) nor do I have a computer to do so at Roundtable. I will ask that you entrust these to me.
I will have manila envelopes that I will have
you put your name, address, phone number and email on so I can get them back to
you. You can also get them to me
personally (I will also be at the Wazhazee Lodge banquet in Hot Springs this Saturday, if you wish to get images to me then.). I do have experience in the archival handling of photos, memorabilia and objects.
Or, you can send me links
to websites or Facebook pages with those images on them. Please make sure that I can access them.
I thank you all for your patience and assistance for helping on this. I do
understand this is short notice but we have so few of our units represented and
we would like to have all the current units shown on the discs, plus we have a little over a month and a half. This will be a great way to remember Scouting in our
council area.
Thank you
for your assistance and consideration. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
Sincerely,
David ElmoreDistrict Vice Chairman
Nischa Sipo District
