I'm trying to set up a home ftp server so I can access my files from my smartphone from work. I was able to setup the ftp server on my home computer using Filezilla or Serv-U. I can connect my phone to my local wifi and download/view the files in my phone using android ftp apps: AndFTP, ES file explorer, ftpcafe, and chrome web browser.

I've disabled windows firewall on my ftp server computer, and forwarded the relevant ports to it from the RG web interface. In the RG, under firewall > adv config, I've turned off enhanced security checkboxes; checked all the boxes for outbound protocol control; and turned off the attack detection checkboxes.

I apologize for the issues you are having trying to get your FTP client to work through an external network. Since it works on an internal, private network, I can only assume that the RG settings are correct, because the RG is forwarding the information correctly. One thing I did notice though is while researching your issue, others were running into the same problem. They were able to fix it by setting their FTP client to Passive Mode as opposed to Active Mode.

I object to this statement. Testing it while in his private network effectively bypasses the RG firewall and external routing and port forwarding features. It says nothing about whether the RG settings are correct. In fact, it casts more doubt on them because it tends to indicate that both his phone and his PC are able to make the communication work, except when the RG is in the way.

I apologize, it's been one of those days. I was thinking that it will produce a source and destination segment, which will have to go through the router to be routed, but I didn't think it through that the destination IP and port would not be the same as compared to routing through an external network.
