GREEN NGOs is a common platform of like minded NGOs woking towards a greener environment.
Dear All
“Only when the last tree has been cut down;
Only when the last river has been poisoned;
Only when the last fish has been caught;
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.”
- So goes a saying which is very apt to our present state of existence.
The environment of Coimbatore has received a backlash in the last couple of years with the large-scale depletion of green cover across the length and breadth of the city and rampant pollution of air and waterbodies. Summers are becoming more unbearable with every passing year as all of you would have painfully experienced.
There are several NGOs in this region who are silently toiling in many ways, large and small, to contribute their might to ensure that our forests, green cover, water bodies and wildlife are protected for our sustainable future. All the NGOs of Coimbatore and the adjoining districts have now come together under one umbrella, to spread the green-word of Nature conservation and to strengthen the vigil to protect Mother Nature.
On June 5th 2012, which is being celebrated world over as World Environment Day, the NGO consortium has planned to organise a mass rally involving people from all walks of the society - students, trade bodies, residential associations, corporates, farmers, medical and legal fraternity - in short, all the beneficiaries of Mother Nature. Our aim is to make a fervent plea to all the citizens to come forward to protect and preserve whatever little is left of our natural resources and to join hands with us to increase and enhance it for posterity.
On 5th June 2012, the rally will commence in Mani High School grounds at 8.30 am, wind it's way through Nethaji Road, Bharathiar Road, Dr.Nanjappa Road and culminate at the VOC Park.
Smt. Hema Karunagaran, DC - Law & Order has consented to flag off the rally. There will be a very short talk on what all of us can do to bring about the much needed change to the landscape of this region.
We request you to kindly join us on this GREEN WALK with your friends, family and colleagues, to pledge your solidarity for the green cause. Your support and strength will set the ball rolling for the creation of a green neighborhood for our future generations.
Walk for yourself, walk for your dear ones, walk for your city.......walk for your country…walk for your planet
Walk..walk..walk.. for the most benevolent of all..........MOTHER NATURE !!!
This Green walk is a symbolic gesture to generate awareness about environment protection. We need to go beyond this one hour walk and adopt green lifestyle by reducing our carbon footprint, protecting greenery, conserving water, energy, avoiding use of plastic, segregating our waste etc in our day to day life.
Together we can make a big difference.
Warm regards,
GREEN NGOS
