Are you able to lets say add a printer, appoint it to the com port or USB port, and use Generic/Text Only, and see if adding it like a printer, whether it will work. Because in the Printer name/Port Name you have USB4 but I dont see any device with USB 4 on there?

Open Device manager, find the USB Port and show us what its showing.

You might have to change the name to show exactly what port its showing in device manager.

In this case its not a COM port been used but a USB thus it wont work if its using COM port.

A POS system is a vital tool for any retail or hospitality business, but it can also cause frustration when it malfunctions. One of the most common issues that POS users face is printer errors, which can disrupt the flow of transactions, receipts, and orders. In this article, we will explain some of the possible causes and solutions for POS printer errors, and how to prevent them from happening again.

The first thing to do when you encounter a POS printer error is to check the connection between the printer and the POS terminal. Sometimes, a loose or faulty cable, a power outage, or a network issue can prevent the printer from communicating with the terminal. To fix this, make sure that the cable is securely plugged in, that the power supply is working, and that the network is stable. You can also try restarting the printer and the terminal, or switching to a different port or cable if available.

Another common cause of POS printer errors is paper-related problems. These can include paper jams, low paper levels, wrong paper size, or poor paper quality. To fix this, make sure that the paper is loaded correctly, that there is enough paper in the roll, that the paper size matches the printer settings, and that the paper is not damaged or dirty. You can also try cleaning the printer head and the paper feed mechanism with a soft cloth or a compressed air can.

Sometimes, a POS printer error can be caused by incorrect or incompatible settings on the printer or the terminal. These can include printer mode, paper cut mode, baud rate, character set, or firmware version. To fix this, make sure that the settings on the printer and the terminal match each other, and that they are compatible with your POS software and hardware. You can also try updating the printer driver and firmware, or resetting the printer to its factory defaults.

The last thing to check when you encounter a POS printer error is the software on the terminal and the printer. Sometimes, a software bug, a virus, or a corrupted file can interfere with the printer function. To fix this, make sure that your POS software and operating system are up to date, that you have installed the latest security patches and antivirus software, and that you have scanned and removed any malware or junk files. You can also try reinstalling the POS software or the printer software, or restoring the terminal to a previous backup.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve most of the POS printer errors that you may encounter. However, if none of these solutions work, or if you have a more complex or recurring issue, you may need to contact your POS provider or a professional technician for further assistance. Remember, a well-maintained and functioning POS system is essential for your business success and customer satisfaction.

Looking for tips on how to fix your Thermal Printer? A lot of the times the printer is not actually broken, but instead the Thermal Paper is being loaded incorrectly or the wrong paper is being used. There are three simple steps that may help get you back on track. (For Epson TM-T88 specific errors, check out our Troubleshooting Your Epson TM-T88 Series Thermal Printer video below.)

Step 1.) Verify that the roll is thermal coated paper by scratching the surface of the paper with a coin or nail.

If it's thermal paper, you will get a black mark where you scratched.

Step 3.) Check to be sure you have the correct roll size or core size, as too little or too big may cause issues. If you don't know what size paper roll fits in your thermal printer, try our POS Supply Finder or call us at 888-431-5800.

Still not working? Your thermal printer probably needs a good cleaning. We recommend using Thermal Printer Cleaning Cards with every paper roll change to remove residue and other contaminants from thermal print heads, paper guides and paper paths, helping to prevent paper jams and misprints.

All fine about writing ESC/POS commands for print formatted texts and also linear barcodes, but I have problems uinderstanding the command protocol to print QR CODES, using the only available documentation supplyied by Epson (as far as I know), see: -T20/TM-T20_eng_qr.pdf

Now, he section concerning QRCodes commands is for me pretty obscure and I was unable to interpreter requested byte sequences; instead I found very helpfull the Nicolas' example I found here: -escpos/wiki/Usage

Nevertheless, in general, I'm confused on the ESC/POS message format, especially in case I would insert a long text message (> 400 chars) inside a QR code... It seem that printer reject (do not print) QR codes containing more than 400 chars using this code:

QR codes are defined in "versions" with each version representing a range of sizes (the higher the version, the bigger the QR code). Your printer's firmware may just not support versions above a certain number.

Check how much error correction you're putting in. (From most to least, the levels are H, Q, M, and L). You might find that a lower level of error correction still gives you enough reliability while allowing you to squeeze in more data.

If you're hitting a limit around 400 characters, the maximum version should be somewhere in the 8-13 range for numeric, 11-17 for alphanumeric, and 13-21 for binary, depending on the level of error correction used. (See the reference table I linked before)

I use cash drawer "posiflex cr4000". This drawer connect to printer "epson TM U220D" using port RJ-11. Printer connect to cashier PC using USB connector. I set the hardware profile in AX for drawer with the device name of cash drawer and run distribution schedule. I have also installed and configure OPOS Driver in the cashier machine (for printer and drawer with the same name which setup on Hardware Profile).

An error occurred and retail POS could not find the cash drawer. You can try to fix the problem, and then click retry. Or click Cancel to start the Retail POS without the cash drawer.

I have a laser printer (Samsung ML-2010) that is in good condition, it works in Windows and old linuxes, but not with my fresh installation of ArchLinux. The printer is recognised and configured, but not printing, saying about any job:

For the benefit of anyone seeing this error message in 2019, a possible cause is an incompatibility between older versions of cups-filters and recent versions of ghostscript. Upgrading the former or downgrading the latter resolves the issue.

Note that upgrades to cups-filters were not released for some platforms (e.g. Raspbian Stretch on the Raspberry Pi) until mid-June 2019, so if this did not work in the past try sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade again.

For users of the Raspberry Pi and possibly certain other Debian-based platforms that experienced this issue in May-June 2019, the problem was that ghostscript and libgs9 were upgraded two or three weeks before the upgraded versions of cups-browsed, cups-filters, cups-filters-core-drivers, libcupsfilters1, and libfontembed1 were made available in the Raspbian repos. Running sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade again on or after June 14, 2019 should hopefully fix the problem.

I just solved a problem very similar to this. It was caused by the spring 2019 Debian upgrade. To solve it, I added "oldstable" to my Debian sources.list and then I was able to downgrade several packages. I downgraded:
