Andyet when I go to record something now, the ONLY options I have are "Until Space Is Needed (Up To One Year)" or "Up To One Year". So no matter WHICH option you choose, I'm STILL going to lose my recordings after ONE YEAR, even though part of the service I am paying for INCLUDES DVR storage. If this is what "cloud" storage means I'd rather go back to saving programs locally ON THE BOX. At least then recordings I saved FOR A REASON will still be there when I try to watch them three years (or whenever) from now.

I am failing to see the logic behind why recordings are now being deleted after one year. I always try and keep the recordings below 70% SPECIFICALLY so I wouldn't lose older recordings that were important to me and are now, sadly, gone and irreplaceable. But this is the sort of thing I have unfortunately come to expect these days, ever since the day I went to watch a movie on TCM (which was included in the package I originally signed up for) and found I needed to now upgrade to a higher package full of stuff I have zero interest in to see the channel. It would be funny if it wasn't so ridiculous.

I work in the broadcasting industry and I cannot come up with one single logical reason why programs "need" to be deleted after one year, especially if storage is kept under 75% full. Yes, I am upset about this because again it is something that adds zero value to my service (in fact, it takes AWAY from my service) and keeps me feeling like I am in abusive relationship with my cable company, which is pitiful. At the very least, there should be a lower (or no) DVR service charge if you're not even going to be allowed to keep your own recordings. On the DVR. That you are PAYING for.

A Digital Video Recorder (DVR) is a simple way to watch your favorite shows. It lets you record any TV program and watch when it's convenient for you. DVR also allows you to rewind and fast-forward live TV, pause a show, or even create your own instant replays.

Fast-forward and rewind: The X1 DVR offers fast-forward and rewind in four different speeds. You can also press the Page Up and Page Down keys to skip ahead or back in five-minute intervals, which is helpful when you're trying to find the end of a show.

Schedule recordings: There are many options to schedule DVR recordings. You can use the TV Box and remote control to directly set your DVR recordings. Learn more about recording a program on X1.

Episode/series recordings: The default option is to record only the episode of the program that you have selected. If the program is part of a series, you also have the option to record the series. Learn more about recording a series on X1.

Recording start times: The DVR is synced with the TV listings. If a network starts a program a minute earlier than the on-screen program guide's scheduled time, the DVR will miss that first minute unless you program the DVR to start a minute early. Learn more about changing the start or stop time of a recording on your X1 DVR.

View recordings: To view your scheduled recordings, go to the Scheduled section in your Saved menu.

Scheduling conflicts: If you set up more than your maximum recordings that air at the same time, you may be presented with a conflict notification. The recording should also display an icon in the guide or program information to indicate it will not record. Learn more about prioritizing recording on your X1 DVR.

Power outage information: In the event of a power outage, only the recordings scheduled to record while the power was out will be affected. You may see one or more segments recorded, as your DVR will attempt to record before and after the power outage.

Storage capacity: Currently, your X1 DVR can record approximately 150 total hours of HD programming on the hard drive and 150 hours of Cloud DVR storage per X1 DVR. You can purchase additional Cloud DVR storage hours by visiting www.xfinity.com.

You can purchase additional Cloud DVR storage hours with or without DVR equipment in the home by contacting us. In some areas, you can upgrade your DVR service from your X1 TV Box by going to Main Menu > Saved > Recordings > Upgrade DVR Plan (located below the list of recorded programs).

Note: DVR storage hours and menu screens such as current storage percentage (Guide > Saved > Recordings) may not update immediately but will shortly after you upgrade. Cloud recordings will initially differ from what's on your local hard drive. Any new recordings will be reflected similarly on both the cloud and TV Box.

Automatically erase recordings: The X1 DVR will automatically erase programs when space is needed.

Delete recordings: You can delete recordings by going to the Saved section and navigating to Recordings. Learn more about deleting a recording on X1.

Recover deleted recordings: If you accidentally deleted a recording, no problem! Check the Deleted section in your X1 DVR. Select the recording you want to recover and click Recover to move it back to your recordings, or select Delete Now to permanently delete it. Learn more about recovering a recording deleted from your X1 DVR.

However, if a recorded program has a Parental Control lock, you won't be able to see or hear it without first entering your Locks PIN.

I have also played with it on mine, it is hit or miss as you have to type in a keyword that is actually in the text. You cannot read the whole text, nor really tell who the actual sender or reciever is, only the other name exchanging the texts.

A large number of people on this and related posts seem to be misunderstanding the problem. The issue raised is that the iPhone does not delete the name and/or number to which text messages or iMessages have been sent. This is not a problem related to Spotlight Search. That is easy to fix and has been explained on here several times. Go into settings/general etc and uncheck "messages" and that does the trick, leastwise it should.

The problem here is that when you start a new Text message or iMessage (NOT an e-mail), the system pulls up a list of previous addressees not just from your current Contacts. For example, you once had a Contact called LS Dancing School but your kids now no longer go there, but you had sent the school text messages in the past. Now that your kids don't go there, you have deleted LS Dancing from your contact list. This has been backed up and synched with iTunes on your laptop several times. However, every time you send a text to a contact beginning with "L", up pops LS Dancing in the autotype list!!!

Apparently it is not possible to delete these old contacts from the autotype list. Whilst this is only irritating for many, it is a MAJOR SECURITY FLAW for the business world. For example, any contact with companies by text in the past, can be shown up this way. If that was unauthorised, or something similar, then there is no way of stopping that companies name showing in the autofill list thus recealing past contacts.

Hi there.... I try to explain this to people. all phone company's including cell phone company's are required to keep records of all your texts messages period so.....every word you text there will always be a record of it....

I want to RECOVER text messages ACCIDENTLY deleted from my 32G i phone 4. The tried the spotlight thing and nothing showed up. When I did the deleting, I did the DELETE AND SWIPE METHOD. Please help if possible.

It's true. Anyone concerned about his/her privacy should know this: What happens is this: When you delete something, any visible links to your files gets cut off. The files themselves don't get removed. that's how some websites such as this one and others, claim to be able to recover deleted files from iphones etc. and as a matter of fact, they are capable of doing it.

No, you will see "Cancelled Recording" any time that you cancel any recording. Just tested and confirmed this by scheduling and cancelling the recording of an upcoming movie. You also see the symbol in the Guide.

I'm new to Ignite and I find that while there are some things that are good about the IPTV Box, there's a lot of work that could be done. I have a block of my chosen channels that I can't add to my Favourites section - I don't want to have to scroll through kids programming. It would be nice if sports channels or news channels or lifestyle channels were lumped together instead of scattered all over the spectrum. I'd like to see a list of all the programs that I've set for repeated recording so that when a series is cancelled I can remove it from the list so it never shows up as a recording option again. And having programs that were cancelled still showing up in the saved section is, as someone noted previously, untidy. I hope that their techy people read this.
