Do good by your bod...
|
We all like to feel hale, hearty and healthy...
But it's not so simple when finding a maple bacon cupcake's as
easy as (deep-fried) pie. Don't sweat it though; this
week we've hand-picked some wholesome
spots guaranteed to get you that daily dose
of nine fruit
and vegetable servings and keep you from
feeling like a piggly wiggly.
Not one to miss the most
important meal of the day, Suz S starts out
right: "I like to eat a healthy breakfast and Wildflower
Cafe has many options to fit your dietary needs. The
Bruschetta Eggs is amazing! The portion's just right. I can
eat the whole thing
without feeling like I'm about to burst."
Sandy J's whole family can get behind the veg
and vegan offerings at Green
Temple Vegetarian Restaurant. "When my husband was a
vegetarian, this was the only place we'd agree on. We still go
there now that he is not... and our daughter loves the
scrambled tofu. We try to go every Sunday! Believe me, we
aren't the only ones."
Beat the mid-day slump by
perking up with a salad. Adrián G wouldn't
touch a veggie with a 10-foot pole... until he happened upon
Greenleaf
Gourmet Chopshop: "I had an epiphany! I actually ate a freakin'
salad and freakin' loved it! To this day, I am
loyal customer and eat there every day for lunch."
Kara P has fallen in love with not one, but
three salads at Tender
Greens: "My personal faves are the Grilled Prawns salad
with chorizo and lima beans (yum!), Tuna Niçoise and Grilled
Chicken Cobb... amazeballs." Anyone need a ride to LAX?
Chris C is so obsessed with a tortilla salad that he'll
take "any excuse to head in that direction and go back to Stuff
I Eat." Shotgun!
Who says you can't have a
health-wich? Mike C digs in at M
Café: "My
sandwich was packed with so much flavor, I found it hard to
believe I was eating healthy!" Ian W
has found the "essential eat-right, be-healthy, and
feel-good-about-yourself lunchery" at Mrs.
Winston's. He prescribes heading "straight to the sandwich
island in the middle of the store. It's got a great selection
of breads and some really good fixin's to make a scrumptious
sandwich." Hard to go wrong with a DIY
lunch!

Colleen
L. on Better
Life Cuisine "Oddly enough, my first introduction to
this restaurant, came by way of Rainbow Acres on Washington
Blvd. in Culver City. In the refrigerated aisle, I picked up a
small container of this kale salad to go, ate it for lunch and
was impressed. It's got more of a savory flavor. Better than
Whole Foods!

have already said, the workers here are very friendly and
helpful with salad suggestions. The salads are fresh and made
to order. Oh, and the salad dressings which are made fresh
every morning, are delicious!
