I'm happy to announce our first officially tagged release of Ninja,
version 120508.
== Release notes
Ninja is already successfully in use to build a variety of projects on
Linux and Mac. Windows support is partially there but I wouldn't
recommend relying on it yet.
As the first release, there is nothing new to report. But I'll take
this opportunity to note that I intend for the tip of tree Ninja
repository to always be shippable. Tagging a version as a release
will hopefully just make it easier to discuss which Ninja you're
using. Future release version numbers will always be numerically
greater than the prior release.
== Getting this release
To build this release, clone the repository and run:
git clone git://
github.com/martine/ninja.git
cd ninja
git checkout release-120508
./bootstrap.py
and then ./ninja -V will print the version number.
See
https://github.com/martine/ninja/downloads
for binary downloads.
(There are none there yet. If you think binaries make sense for your
platform -- maybe Mac? -- please help me out.)
If you've written packaging support scripts (e.g. Debian, Homebrew, or
Windows batch files) and would like to check them in to the Ninja
repository, send me a pull request.
