YiNan just confirmed that he installed fresh-from-the-oven 1.1R3 and
that his T3 no longer crashes. Phew.

Now waiting -- fingers still crossed - for confirmation from Thea and
Mike.

Thanks
Alex

Sorry Alex,

I sat this one out.
Selfishly I did not want to loose any of my Dr. info or drawings.

Last night I was going to say take your time, and look it didn't take long to fix.

Dan

Dan, no problem. I would have done the same.

I can't get to this for a few hours - will do it as soon as I can!

That's okay. No pressure. I'm learning iPhone programming while
waiting for your answer...

Oh, very cool. I downloaded the SDK but have not had time to more than
glance at it and locate a bunch of small sample programming. Enjoy!

Will be able to test in about thirty minutes.

Except once more I see no registered version email, in junk or
elsewhere.

Oh, oops - I found it - sorry... I tried to set up a rule in my mail
to make it put your stuff where I want it, only it gave me a fit. But
the email is here. Will install and try.

Thea

PS I had downloaded my drawings so figured, what the heck...

Yay, it works and my db is still there, too!

Way to go!

Thank you,

Great, Thea.

But I won't release just yet because Dan just reported that he was
still not able to launch. So I am now adding a Debug option that will
step through ninerpad data and report errors as it finds them.

Side note: I looked at the iPhone SDK -- sweet, this, yes -- and,
rather than jump into that new API jungle, have decided to do a "rough
cut" in newlisp and newlisp GS, which will help pin down the UI and
interaction models much faster than if I were to do it directly in
Xcode.

Unfortunately, R3 seems to be crashing my TX upon exit. Taskbar
remains visible, screen goes white, and then the TX hangs. I tried it
several times, but in the end reverted back to R1 which seems fine.
Dbs were saving OK though.

Umm, I've also tried R2 and it automatically resets my TX, even though
I gave it some more tries.

I could also try R3, Alex, if that will help. In the meantime, I will
also go back to R1.

When you say revert back to R1, you make it sound so simple. I think you mean just to re-send R1 to the handheld through Hot sync, and it covers up the newer version. I guess I am talking basic Palmisms here, but I found the back ups on my iMac and when I clicked on it, the file went directly to "Sent to Hand held". So as log as you hot sync regularly you can not loose any files. I think.

This is the first trouble I have had, and don't care about how fast the releases come with new features. I am looking at a program that I use daily on my T/X. I am confident that Alex will sort it all out.

Go Alex!

Sorry, not meaning to be like that!! I actually keep the PRCs for all
versions on an SD card. I then use File Prog (http://www.freeware-
palm.com/download-fileprog-v1-14.html), a Palm file manager, to copy
whichever version I want to use in to the Palm\Launcher directory. You
then goto your list of applications and select "Copy" from the main
menu. If you choose to copy from the SD Card to the internal memory,
it will automatically install (and overwrite any old versions) for
you. Very useful!

I didn't crash on exit, but will try it multiple times on different
occasions and see if there is some condition.

I would like to add to the list - cosmetic - find a way to make the
rounded square buddha closing lose the white corners with
transparency. It would look much nicer - if not, and you (Alex) want
to send that graphic to me, I could mod it to improve the appearance.

I just keep copies in a software folder and reinstall them using
bluetooth to overwrite.

Okay Dan. I was almost done with the extra Debug option (steps through
your data and reports any high-level anomalies it may find, for
subsequent reporting back to the group, which in turn would help me
find the fault).

I guess it's too late for that, now that you've reset.

Oh well, an upside remains. Everyone gets a patch sooner, if and when
this kind of problem recurs.

Ruben thanks. Let me first finish up on R3, for which 2 things remain:

#1. wrap up the verbose debug option.
#2. try and reproduce Mike's "hang on exit" TX problem.

After that, I would like to ask you guys (and girls) to test it if and
when you have the time.

Thanks

That is unfortunate. I thought all the problems had been traced and
fixed.

Okay let me dig deeper into this. More news later.

Thanks

Thanks Thea. Let me see what I can do (it's a transparent color issue;
I probably forgot to set that to white when I added the Buddha pix to
ninerpad). Also more news shortly.

Mike that sounds extremely useful in fact. I may want to set this up
as well, given that cross-version compatibility issues may come up
later in the life of ninerpad (when the db structures change, if and
when).

Thanks for the hint.

Thanks for the support, Dan (and all)

The problems associated with these last 2 releases have taught me more
than one lesson. I thought I knew everything there was to know about
Palm OS programming, what with 3 years of ninerpaint development. I
know better now.

I hope I can lick these latest problems fast, before people give up on
ninerpad in frustration, and also so that I may sink my teeth into
fresher (new feature) meat. Much awaits that needs doing.
