so... like... I just bought this iPod Touch and am burning to try and
develop something for it (and it runs on it, it will run on the
iPhone). So... any ideas?

Alex

PS: no. this will not slow down development on ninerpad for Palm.
That's my meat.

Ooh, I just bought one too and I love it!! My poor Tungsten E2 is
dying (already on its second battery and the on/off switch is wearing
out) so I bought the iPod Touch as a possible Palm replacement. That's
one reason I haven't been spending as much time with Ninerpad as I'd
like. Besides an iPhone/iTouch version of Ninerpad, I really miss the
week-at-a-glance type view of the calendar, as in Datebook6 on the Palm.

Does your Palm feel kind of large and clunky after holding the iPod
Touch? Mine does! ;-) And I love feeding those koi! The touch screen
and accelerometer are so amazing!

Let me try something out. It may take some time as I'll have to
familiarize myself with Objective-C, the SDK, and the possibilities of
the device. So, something really simple to start with. More news
shortly.

I admit there is an iTouch in my future - my boyfriend's son sold
stuff and saved his money to get one and it's really nice, BUT it has
a serious lack of applications, and many it does have are really
buggy. I did find the touch screen very slow and unresponsive compared
to the Palm, however. And it takes an amount of pressure (probably
because it is designed for a finger, not a stylus) that is beyond what
the Palm needs.

But I definitely hope Alex can develop for that, too!!!

hint, hint...

Some one said something about the size. The iTouch looks smaller. I like the size of the larger screen of my t/x. Now I am speaking only as an artist. I know there is a new phone in my future, but I am looking at the iPhone or Blackberry in addition to my t/x.

I have a nice, sleek blackberry pearl and it's a nice companion with
my TX. Except I keep trying to write on it...

If you need more typing space, the clunky wider ones probably work
better, but I like the slim pearl 8130 even tho it's a bit of a bear
to type on. It's still easier/ faster than on the Palm. Of course the
iPhone has the touch - and if the AT&T service comes down in price, I
will probably move from Verizon at that point and get an iPhone.

Hi - It's only the overall device that's smaller. The screen is 320 by
480 px - same as the TX, and bigger than my Tungsten E2! I haven't
seen any really good drawing apps yet - curves tend to look segmented
and pointy, but then the App Store has only been open a couple months,
whereas people have been writing software for the Palm for years!
