Where to Vote
Did you know that you can choose to vote either at your permanent residence or at your seasonal residence electoral district?
Yes, it's up to you.
Statistically speaking, your vote is "worth" more at your waterfront property, since rural ridings tend to have fewer voters than urban centres. FOCA encourages you to vote where you feel your voice is strongest on the issues that matter to waterfront property owners.
"How do I vote at the cottage?"
First, you need to know your cottage postal code. Then, click here to find your Electoral District, including the location of the Returning Office in your cottage area. Once you know the name of your Electoral District, click here for the list of candidates.
Important: Bring the right ID when you go to vote in your cottage riding:
(1) your driver's license, and
(2) a property tax bill from the cottage. (It has the address & your name.)
Of course, your name will not be on the Voter List for that District, so plan on taking a few extra minutes to fill in the appropriate paperwork when you arrive.

When to Vote
HANDY TIP: You do NOT need to wait for Election Day!
Advanced polls are open, but only until Friday, September 30th.
If you're planning to be at the cottage this weekend, check the Electoral District list to find the location of Advance Polls for your cottage area, and the hours of operation. This way, you won't need to be at the cottage on Thursday, October 6th to vote.
Get more voting info from Elections Canada.

What has FOCA been doing to prepare for the provincial election?
FOCA has approached each of the major political parties with a list of questions on issues of concern to our membership, and has asked for written responses.
Click here to review the list of FOCA's questions.
Watch for official responses on FOCA's HOT TOPICS webpage.
Also, Terry Rees, Executive Director of FOCA, will moderate an "all-candidates debate" in the Peterborough Electoral District on Thursday, September 29th, 2011 at 12:00pm at George St. United Church (534 George St., Peterborough). If you are in the area that day, please plan to attend, and come armed with questions for the party candidates.
