Dear Colleagues,
As you know, the linguist Geoffery Pullum has, for some time, been repeating his account of how Daniel Everett’s revolutionary discoveries threatened Chomskyan theory, resulting in slanderous accusations against Everett and blockage of his field research. For the last two years I have found some time to gather information from reliable sources about these claims. Today my article on the subject was published in LingBuzz: https://ling.auf.net/lingbuzz/009832
This is intended as a reference article in the History of Linguistics, with confirmed facts to let the reader judge the matter for himself. Most of the discussion of this topic has been by linguists and others who do not study Amazonian languages. It would be interesting to hear the opinion of the Amazonian linguists about this subject, in this, very appropriate, space.

Como vocês sabem, o linguista Geoffrey Pullum vem, há algum tempo, repetindo seu relato de como as descobertas revolucionárias de Daniel Everett ameaçaram a teoria chomskiana, resultando em acusações caluniosas contra Everett e no bloqueio de sua pesquisa de campo. Nos últimos dois anos, dediquei algum tempo a reunir informações de fontes confiáveis sobre essas alegações. Este artigo tem como objetivo servir de referência na História da Linguística, com fatos comprovados para que o leitor possa julgar a questão por si mesmo. A maior parte da discussão sobre este tópico tem sido feita por linguistas e outros que não estudam línguas amazônicas. Seria interessante ouvir a opinião dos linguistas amazônicos sobre este assunto, neste espaço bastante apropriado.
