We invite you to participate in the hybrid workshop, "Respiratory Musical Interfaces (RMIs) in NIME," hosted at NIME 2026 (London and online).

📌 Program Highlights
  • Part 1: Breathing Foundations, 2:00 – 3:00 PM BST (9:00 – 10:00 AM EDT)
    • Respiratory biomechanics, signal processing, and hands-on custom RMI wearables.
  • Part 2: Research Talks, 3:15 – 4:45 PM BST (10:15 – 11:45 AM EDT)
    • Talks by Daniel Chin (NYU Shanghai), Marco Donnarumma (Artist/Researcher), and Bavo Van Kerrebroeck (Ghent University).
  • Part 3: A Panel Discussion, 5:00 – 6:00 PM BST (12:00 – 1:00 PM EDT)
    • This cross-disciplinary panel explores future directions for RMIs, synthesizing diverse insights from respiratory science, neuroscience, sound art, embodiment, interactive machine learning, and creative technology.
    • Featuring Xiao Xiao (IFT), Bavo Van Kerrebroeck (Ghent University), Eleonora Oreggia (Goldsmiths, University of London), Shinya Fujii (Keio University), and Isabelle Cossette (McGill University).
