Call for Onsite Volunteers: ISMIR 2026

We invite you to join us as an onsite volunteer for the 27th International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conference (ISMIR 2026), taking place in person from November 8 to 12, 2026.
Onsite student volunteers are the backbone of the conference. Your support will be vital in ensuring smooth operations across presentations, workshops, concerts, and social events, while creating a welcoming experience for attendees worldwide.
Onsite Volunteer Roles
Registration & Welcome Desk: Assist with attendee check-in, badge distribution, venue navigation, and general inquiries.
Session & Oral Presentation Support: Coordinate with session chairs, assist in-person speakers with microphone handling, timekeeping, and microphone passing during live Q&A.
Poster & Demo Session Support: Guide presenters to their assigned boards, assist with physical setups, manage crowd flow, and coordinate with online and other onsite volunteers.
Workshops, Tutorials & Music Program Support: Provide logistical assistance for specialized satellite events, tutorial rooms, and evening music/concert performances.
AV & Technical Floor Support: Assist local AV technicians and troubleshoot basic on-floor equipment needs (projectors, adapters, audio feeds).
Requirements
In-Person Availability: Must be physically present at the conference venue in person from November 8 to 12, 2026, and the onsite training on November 7 afternoon (multiple training sessions might be needed, and exact time to be announced).
Communication: Working proficiency in English; clear and professional interpersonal communication.
Reliability & Teamwork: Attendance at all mandatory pre-conference training sessions, prompt check-ins for assigned shifts, and active communication with the volunteer coordination team.
Enthusiasm: Dedication to fostering an inclusive, helpful, and energetic environment for the global MIR community!
