AI Music Lab — Call for Proposals | Nov 27–28, 2026, Madrid

Dear NIME community,
We are pleased to invite you to participate in AI Music Lab: International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in the Musical Creative Process, organized by the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio (UAX) — the first research conference on AI applied to music to be held in Spain. The event will take place on November 27–28, 2026, at the UAX Performing Arts Campus, Madrid.
The conference brings together researchers, artists, producers, engineers, educators and developers to explore how AI is transforming musical and sonic creation, production and post-production — with a dedicated thematic area on new interfaces and digital lutherie, directly connected to the NIME field.
Thematic areas span the whole creative cycle, including:
- AI-assisted composition and creation
- Neural synthesis, timbre and synthetic voice
- Real-time improvisation and human-machine interaction
- New interfaces and digital lutherie with machine learning
- AI in production, mixing and mastering
- Restoration, source separation and sound heritage
- Open-source AI and collaborative ecosystems
- Ethics, authorship and rights in AI-generated music
- Aesthetics and criticism of new sonic expressions
- AI applied to music education and musicology
- Sound design for audiovisual and immersive media
Accepted contribution formats:
- Paper — 20-min oral presentation + 10-min discussion (500-word abstract)
- Paper-concert — hybrid format combining scientific presentation with live performance or lecture-performance, 30 min (500-word abstract + link to materials/scores)
- Poster — visual presentation with discussion session (300-word abstract, A0 format)
- Group panel — collective proposal with 3–4 participants (600-word rationale + individual abstracts)
Submissions are accepted in Spanish and English, and will undergo double-blind peer review. Selected papers will be published with ISBN in Saberes, UAX's official scientific journal.
