Aloha Everyone:

I hope you and your loved ones are well.

There are so many injustices and different forms of violence that are manifested in our world that many social justice-multicultural counseling advocates sometimes feel overwhelmed with the work that we face in building a more just, peaceful and sane society. There is so much to do often with few resources...but continue we must!!!

The horrific tragedy that occurred in Haiti as a result of the devastating earthquake that hit that island is one of the many issues that have captured our attention and desire to extend our collective help over the past several weeks.

Several weeks ago, I learned that one of our allies, Ms. Laura Mundy, from Idaho was planning to travel to Haiti in April as part of a church-based relief endeavor. The CSJ Board of Directors agreed to approach Ms. Mundy to see if she would be willing to to serve as an official CSJ representative as part of her work in Haiti.

I am very grateful to Ms. Mundy for agreeing to serve in this capacity and agreeing to complete a report of her experiences when working in Haiti so that we could learn about the continuing needs of the people in that devastated land.

I am attaching Ms. Mundy's thoughtful report and additional information and pictures included in her email (see below) for your review.

This is the second time this year that we have been able to have CSJ members serve as official representatives to special events. In addition to Ms. Mundy serving as our envoy to Haiti, Michael Hutchins and Judy Lewis were kind enough to serve as official CSJ representative when attending an international conference on reconciliation in Jordan during this past winter. Michael and Judy have published a report of their trip in the last issue of the CSJ Newsletter - The Activist. I am also including a copy of that newsletter for those of you who may be interested in the work Judy and Michael did in that regard.

Thanks again to Laura, Michael and Judy for serving in these official capacities as CSJ representatives and to all of you for the work you do each day to foster a greater level of justice, peace and sanity in our world.

CSJ President

Hi Michael!
I am back from my trip to Haiti and am so happy to share with you what I learned! I have written a statement (that's probably more than you wanted!) and also put together a "photo-essay" of my trip on picasa.com. I will attach what I wrote, and give you the link to my photo album, and you can use any or all of it in any way you think would be helpful for CSJ.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Laura
