to Counselors for Social Justice, nimc national
Aloha:

Having lived through the Vietnam War, one of the important lessons learned from that nationalized form of violence was the massacre at My Lai...

There are similar representations in an unprovoked attack by US forces on unarmed citizens and reporters in Afghanistan a few months ago.

Many times anti-war advocates that direct our attention to the illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan point out the ways that the expenditure of monies in these foreign countries can be used to address the needs of the people in the United States.

However, on a more basic level...the continued military intervention of the United States military results in the murder of innocent people similar to what occurred in My Lai.  Although many professional counselors often debate issues related to the moral justification of killing innocent people in war situations as these persons simply represent "collateral damages", Counselors for Social Justice are more in tune with the fundamental immorality of such violence.

It is also understood that counselors for social justice can not address issues that they are not aware of....

With this in mind I am including a link that reports on a serious unprovoked murder of several innocent and unarmed citizens in Afghanistan .... this link contains disturbing images...the attacks reported in the film included in this link are becoming a matter of increasing controversy for our nation, former President Bush's policy in Afghanistan, and President Obama's continuing support for military invention in that country.

This email is specifically sent to those persons who understand the intimate connections that exist between such unprovoked
attacks on citizens and psychological disorder.

this email is also being sent to foster the development of a greater level of organizational initiatives in the mental health professions that are aimed at promoting peace in our world...
