To start Acronis Backup on a machine (device), you need to install a backup agent. Every Acronis user can access the backup console, download the required agent, and install it on their machines in minutes.

The Cyber Protection Agent setup automatically detects if all required packages are installed on your machine. If not, the setup will ask you permission to install any missing packages during the setup.

Once the installation completes, you can register the machine to your Acronis Devices. If not done automatically, choose Show registration info and follow the steps as instructed.

Installation of Acronis backup agent on a Linux server is relatively easy, considering you have root or a sudo account on the server and, of course, access to the Acronis Control panel. In this article we outline the general steps to install the Acronis Backup agent on a Linux server.

Next, we need to check whether the appropriate versions of the packages for building kernel modules have been installed. In CentOS/Redhat/Fedora servers, run the following command to check the versions.

In both cases, we need to ensure that the package version is the same as the kernel version. Use the table below for reference on how to install the required packages in different Linux distributions.

On the left-hand side panel, click on the "Devices" tab then click on "All Devices" to bring up a list of all the added devices. On the upper right-hand side corner, click on the "Add" button as shown below.

A message window will open displaying the registration link and the registration code for that machine. Open the registration link in a browser and enter the registration code in your Acronis Cyber Protect console. You will see an "Installation Complete" message once the agent installation is complete.

If you want to remove individual product components (for example, one of the agents or Cyber Protection Monitor), run the All agents for Windows setup program, choose to modify the product, and clear the selection of the components that you want to remove. The link to the setup program is present on the Downloads page (click the account icon in the top-right corner > Downloads).

If you are planning to install the agent again, keep this check box cleared. If you select the check box, the machine may be duplicated in the service console and the backups of the old machine may not be associated with the new machine.

We try and keep the following link updated to quickly and easily allow the downloading of the Acronis agent. Please note as the software is always updating this link may not be updated. Feel free to open a ticket with us anytime if you require a quick download to the latest agent.

Note that currently the Agent for MySQL/MariaDB requires an add-on license quota. Database backup and restore is included in the normal base agent installer when used with a web hosting control panel like Plesk or cPanel. However, standalone backup and recovery for these will require an add-on. Please contact us if you require this feature.

You must have created at least one customer account before you can register agents and get started with backing up your devices. You will need to be logged into this customer account when doing the following steps. Information regarding setting up your customer account can be found here : -base/creating-customers-and-tenants-inside-the-acronis-console/

After the installer completes it will ask how to you wish to register the agent. We have found opting for the Registration Via Code found within the console by selecting Devices > Add > Scroll all the way to the bottom.

Then copy or download the installation files to a directory on the machine where you want to install the product. Then extract the archive and go to the directory where you have extracted the installation files using below commands.

Run the installation file for the Acronis backup bootable media builder (for an .i686 or
an .x86_64 file) as the root user and follow the on-screen instructions like we did above for the Management console.

Now run the 3rd and last installation file for the Acronis backup agent (for an .i686 or
an .x86_64 file) as the root user and follow the on-screen instructions for the Aconis Agent setup on your Linux CentOS 7 OS.

Acronis Backup Cloud provides us with a unified Cloud Console and has a multi-tenant and multi-tier web console for managing server. Acronis offers backup storage on their own cloud(Acronis Cloud), third party cloud(AWS, GPC, Azure) or on-premise servers. Here we are setting up Acronis Backup cloud on On-premise server to keep backups of cPanel servers. The configuration of Acronis Backup Cloud includes major three steps:

Once the registration is completed and email is verified a trial account with storage space of 1TB will be provided. Additional storage space can be purchased by contacting the sales team. After this, Acronis cloud dashboard will be accessible via the URL: -cloud.acronis.com/login. A username similar to SP3564364 and password will be available in the registered email id.

To install Acronis SDI our server should have at least 16GB RAM and a minimum of 4 hard disks of your desired capacity. You can get the ISO file for installing SDI from Acronis Dashboard >> Settings >> Locations >> Add backup storage >> Download ISO.

2. This ISO should be mounted to the server for installation, you can contact your DC for mounting them to the server or request a KVM access to the server. Once the ISO is mounted start the server and proceed with KVM access. The installation is very similar to that of installing a CentOS server. The step by step procedure is given below:

8. You can monitor cluster creation progress in the HEALTHY list of the INFRASTRUCTURE > Nodes screen. The creation might take some time depending on the number of disks to be configured. Once the automatic configuration is complete, the cluster is created.

9. On the INFRASTRUCTURE > Networks screen, make sure that the ABGW private and ABGW public traffic types are added to your networks. In the left menu, click STORAGE SERVICES > Backup. Select the node(s) to run the gateway services on and click Create gateway in the right menu. Select This cluster as a storage type. Make sure the correct network interface is selected in the corresponding drop-down list. Click NEXT.

If the snapshot data is large a temporary file will be created for storing the data. If there is no disk space in / partition backup will fail. In this case, we change the mount directory where the tempory files are stored.
