Itappears that 9x39 subsonic ammunition, which was originally developed for Soviet silenced assault and sniper rifles, is now certified in Russia as civilian hunting round, with FMJ lead core bullet (weight 15.5 gram)
The hs is civilian by Klimovsk but could be also from an old MIA contract as the given year there is a long time back (or false on purpose).
The story behind these is that a rich Russian got them certified as hunting ammo for his very own use. We shall see if they will ever make it further than that single person.
BTW, Klimovsk factory is in troubles again, as its current owner, who is Mexican citizen with Russian roots, is currently at large, being sought by Russian Law Enforcement authorities for several crimes, including illegal privatization of the ex-state owned ammunition plant.
Max - the web site with information about Klmovsk will translate into English, but
it is, at best, a poor translation and hard to understand what is going on. Can you
provide just a short summary?
Also, please see my inquiry about Russian 9 x 18 mm Makarov Proof Loads? I wrote
a private email a week or so ago about this, but have not heard from anyone. Can
you, or through any of your friends, help me with this information? It is important to
me and a friend for a study we are doing.
John, KSPZ situation is as follows:
Someone Jorje Portilia-Sumina, Mexican citizen with Russian roots and alleged connections to organized crime, illegally obtained about 26% of the KSPZ stocks after forced criminal bancrupcy of the factory.
Only the case were made in 2002 (if that is the real date and not dated back on purpose). The cartridges were made in 2012.
Or they simply used old cases which were made for a different order and were not delivered for some reason.
Do you happen to know the inner construction of the projectile? The given weight and the supposedly absence of a steel core makes me think that the projectile must have a long hollow base or an air cavity in the tip section.
for example, I own 12 ga shotgun and (soon will have) .357 mag Rossi 92 rifle. As a result, I can legally buy live ammo in 12 ga and .357 mag only, and nothing else, even if other calibers are perfectly legal for civilian shooters in general
Due to its .447-inch base diameter and 2.2-inch overall length, it happens to fit into an AR-15. Currently, there are a number of companies working to bring AR-15 barrels, upper receivers and complete rifles to market in this caliber, and one is Krebs Custom, a company best known for its custom AK work.
While Krebs Custom is planning on offering AK pistols in 9x39, it will also be selling 9x39 AR barrels and bolts, as well as complete upper receivers. I recently had the chance to handle and test one of its preproduction shop mules with a 10.5-inch barrel. While this was built simply for testing gas port size and location, as well to check functioning, I thought readers would like to check out the possibilities.
The initial offering, available from Wolf, is a 278-grain full-metal-jacket boattail subsonic. The projectile features a bimetal jacket with a lead core and is loaded into Berdan-primed steel cartridge cases.
While an off-the-shelf 7.62x39 bolt will work, a standard AR pistol- or carbine-length gas system will not. So one challenge is correctly locating and sizing the gas port, and the solution is a custom-length tube.
Another issue is barrel length. The Russian 9x39 VSS Vintorez and AS VAL rifles feature short 7.9-inch barrels. Increasing length much beyond this, using the current load, can lead to the bullet going supersonic. This produces a sonic boom, which is exactly what you are trying to avoid with subsonic ammunition.
All is not roses, though. While 7.62x39 AR magazines function with 9x39 ammunition, I would not term them 100 percent reliable. I think a dedicated design will be required. Even so, I think the cartridge has a lot of potential. It would make a great hunting cartridge for pigs.
If looking to acquire an automated powder-charge dispensing unit to speed up precision reloading, don't judge the RCBS ChargeMaster Lite powder scale and dispenser by its name; the Little Green machine packs a heavy-weight punch with speed and accuracy.
You want realism. a M80 round will rip your head off. Realism is not what you want my friend if that's the case. gun jamming tweaking gunaspects for different shots up to 300 years and don't forget about the Coriolis effect the reason why you can make some crazy shots. In reality most guns in tarkov will eat up armor like cake. you do not want super realism my friend everybody would be missing shots and your gun would be on fire with multiple rounds being shot. go on youtube and there is this Russian guy shooting the ak103 I forgot what mag he was on but it caught on fire lol
also fyi the 5.56 m995 rounds are not good rounds up close depending on bullet velocity etc 5.56 round is trash to begin with but the penetration is best at mid range. the 9x39 can eat a level 6 vest within 4 shots now if your upclose the as val with clean house with any modded m4. the m4 is a highly adaptable gun and easy to use and easy to customize depending on your situation in combat you saying nerf 9x39 rounds is a joke there is other variables to include. im not a gun guy I am more of a how the gun works a ballistics type of guy those people know their guns but please know how the guns work and how the bullets function when leaving the gun
its not or else the asval gun would be louder then the bullets in this case the bullets are louder. also the reason 5.56 is trash or should I say inconsistent round. Important note it is a ass backwards round a 5.56 bullet will only fragment if it yaws only 60 percent of the time this will happen another problem when the yaw happen to late very little damage is done add in a short barrel mod in the m4 so about 150 yards the 5.56 is almost out of steam as far as fragmentation goes. the 5.56 was designed for ethnical killing
Second, the slower the bullet travels, the less likely it is to fragment unless its a hollowpoint. So up until 150 yards yes, the 556 is going to hit you with the same amount of force, whether your 10ft or 100ft away.
THe 556 is the Nato round because its effective at killing, and a lot easier to control, easier to carry (weight) and cheaper to make than 308 which is what used to be the standard for every grunt in the field. The military wouldnt give their soldiers a "trash" round to fight wars with, at least not anymore. Secondly, if it wasn't a good up close and personal round, they would not have people clearing homes in Iraq carrying M16s would they?
id be in for a armor/ammo rework/tuning in this game, armor kinda feels redundant when everyone is running around with igolniks and other top tier armor penetrating rounds. i guess itd be more fun if youve got some kind of tankyness with decent lv6 armor
5.56x45mm rounds utilized in NATO supported countries, just a cheap effective bullet. Also this argument primarily applies to the M855 rounds, which would tumble more often in the M4A1. The M4A1 utilizes it's own ammo, the M855A1, which has improved ballistics and don't tumble. There is the fact of the matter that any bullet can and will "ricochet" inside the body, but tumbling is something that happens when the bullet is in flight.
Secondly the coriolis effect? It's phenomenon that happens out at approximately a mile or so when shooting .50 calibre anti material rounds, snipers will hardly be out a click or so from the target they are shooting, where windage is more likely to be a bigger effect than the earths curvature.
VSS and VAL are indeed too strong in this version. VSS as a special sniper rifle in the game is used by most players as a submachine gun. The sound is low, the recoil is low, and the bullet penetration is strong. In the 12.5 version, the 9 * 39 series has become a weapon without shortcomings.
9x39mm is way too OP with a fixed price floor from traders... i.e. you can buy SP-6 and SPP pretty cheap from Prapor. SP-6 is probably as good as BS and only costs 600 ish roubles. Combine that with the fire rate and low recoil of the VSS/AS VAL and it doesn't make sense to NOT use it..
They should nerf economically or the guns/round itself. So they could for example nerf recoil and remove the price floor on the bullets (either make it found in raid only or more expensive from traders). They could also nerf penetration a bit in addition to that.
