I've just discovered Nikola and it appears that it may be just what I need.  My first attempt at converting a Wordpress site (~1K pages) was encouraging, but I've got a long way to go.

The biggest issue I have at the moment is handling a lot of images (few K) that in WP are managed by Imagely's NextGen.  My first attempt (just do standard import) didn't appear to work.

I haven't gone far enough to ask for specific help, but my question is whether anyone has experience with NextGen importing and can give me any pointers before I have to tackle it myself.  The docs on images seem pretty thin unless there is something I haven't found.

Thx,

Never used NextGen, sorry.

In general the docs in images are short because there isn't much to explain: you put images in some folders, those get thumbnail and published in other folders. Which folder goes where is determined by IMAGE_FOLDERS

Additionally: subfolders work pretty much how you would expect them to.

So, in general, what you need to do is:

1. Get all the images from NextGen downloaded somehow into some folder structure
2. Configure Nikola to publish those folders in the output site

Then if the URLs don't match what they used to be:

3a: change the posts so they use the new URLs
3b: change the image paths so the new URLs match the old URLs better (no idea how NextGen's URLs look like)

Thanks, appreciate the help.  That's about what I was expecting.
