Hi Y'all,
I found this list of events at St. Joseph's Center in Alhambra. We
should try to go!

http://www.saintjoecenter.com/cal.html

I've also copied it here for your convenience:

"Cristero!"
Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 7:30pm
Ruben Quezada is Director of Operations with our good friends at the
Catholic Resource Center and allied with St Joseph's Communications.
He is a long-time student of the history of Mexico in the early
twentieth century, and an expert on the persecution of Catholics by
the dictators of that period - and the heroic and heartbreaking story
of valiant resistance by the "Cristeros" and other martyrs of Mexico.
This seldom told story is presented by a true expert on the subject. A
word of caution - this will not be an evening for children.

"The Near and Present Danger"
Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 7:30pm
Vincent Fortanasce, MD, is a practicing neurologist, psychiatrist,
author and an expert on bioethics. His accomplishments, personal and
professional, include every thing from International Karate
championships to a breakthrough treatment regimen for Alzheimer's
disease. His professional credentials are far too many to list here
and could not be more impressive. Dr Fortanasce joins us this evening
to give a thorough overview of the many and varied threats to human
life and human dignity presented by the new 'biotechnologies'. Can we
stop - how do we stop - the out of control pusuit of scientific
knowledge and false 'self-determination' on the medical horizon?

"The Other Side of Social Justice"
Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 7:30pm
Father Bob Lombardo, CFR, is a member of the Congregation of the
Franciscan Friars of the Renewalfounded by a group of friars that
includes Fr. Benedict Groeschel and Fr. Bob Lombardo. He spent many
years working with the homeless and the helpless on the east coast,
and is currently engaged in founding a mission among the poorest of
the poor in Chicago. Fr. Bob does not write books about social
justice. He tries to do social justice. What does a man "on the job
site" have to say about building "justice and peace"?

"Spiritual, Not Religious"
Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 7:30pm
Does that sound like anyone you know? Fr. Bruce Nieli, CSP, knows
someone who was like that - the candidate for canonization, Isaac
Hecker. According to Father Bruce's estimation, a saint, a mystic, and
a prophet very much for our time, as well as the founder of the
Paulists, the community to which our speaker belongs. To paraphrase
Fr. Bruce, "Hecker was a transcendentalist who believed in
spirituality without religion. Does that sound familiar? Does that
relate to us today?" How did Hecker 'breakthrough'? How can we help
others - and ourselves - get real? Fr. Bruce has a wonderful gift for
pathos, humor and story telling. You are really going to enjoy this
evening.

FATHER JACK'S TESTIMONIAL

"Fr. Jack Stoeger is a real inspiration; you won't want to miss his presentation! Fr. Jack was one of the priests who inspired me when I was in my 20's and a member of the parish Young Adult Fellowship  -- he was one of the associate pastors who was a popular speaker at the Young Adult Fellowship, led us in prayer, and met with a number of us individually if/when we asked for spiritual guidance.  He still inspires me, 20 years later! Last summer he gave a great presentation at Theology on Tap; I was grateful to be in the audience with 3 young women I invited.  He will be a good follow-up for anyone who liked the presentation I gave at OLPH last month -- I learned a lot from him!" ~ Sister Jan Husung, CSJ

NICE! Fr. Jack Stoeger was my formation adviser at the seminary and
he is an outstanding priest and an even greater human being! I love
this guy and he was instrumental in my formation as a priest. I
highly recommend for any of you to attend anything he is a part of.

Roberta, thanks for extending the invitation to all of the Nights of
Discipleship Young Adults.

Peace,
Fr. Francis
