Ihad a similar problem with Windows Server 2019. Resetting the Update Service, as recommended everywhere, did not help. I ended up booting the server from the installation USB and reinstalling the same operating system over keeping settings, applications, and data (in-place upgrade routine). After the server started upon install completion, it could successfully find a dozen of missing updates.

I arranged then alphanumerically for easier use. Note that if you perform a search in your installed Windows updates, make sure to include the letters KB before the number of the update, otherwise the search may come back falsely negative.

Around 5 years ago, Microsoft began cleaning up its Updates. So many of the updates you have listed have been superseded by newer updates. If you do not install the old ones, you will at least get their functionality in the newer ones that have superseded them.

If your plans are to bring the computer in question up to date to protect it from vulnerabilities, you should go ahead and install the updates until EOL. To avoid the telemetry, turn off CEIP and follow the instructions in AKB2000012. Install IE11 and update it to the latest patch, but do not use it for a browser. Choose another browser like Firefox, Chrome, or even Edge, and keep it updated. Install a good anti-virus and keep it updated. And last of all, practice safe browsing on the Internet.

Out of curiosity, do legacy Win7 systems that are fully up to date through EoS like you described continue to have to deal with nagging to update to Win10 and/or the hijacking and forced update to Win10 that caused so much consternation when Win10 came out? If so, can it be avoided or mitigated like the telemetry can be?

To make sure you're protected by the latest security updates, Google Chrome can automatically update when a new version of the browser is available on your device. With these updates, you might sometimes notice that your browser looks different.

The browser saves your opened tabs and windows and reopens them automatically when it restarts. Your Incognito windows won't reopen when Chrome restarts. If you'd prefer not to restart right away, click Not now. The next time you restart your browser, the update will be applied.

This would apply to all Autodesk Products technically. Windows 11 no longer shows installed updates other than Windows updates. I understand Inventor 2023 is supported with Windows 11. If we have a faulty or conflicting update/service pack, how can we see it to uninstall it if needed?

Thank you for the reply. Windows 11 doesn't show any updates under that location unless they are Windows. Microsoft responded to me yesterday with this reply "Control Panel is being phased out for Settings, so more of it will disappear with each Feature Update until it's eventually gone. For Updates go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History and Advanced Updates > Optional Updates are very important to get some drivers - the rest need to come from your manufacturer's Downloads. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer's drivers current."

I am familiar with the desktop app. It will show me what hasn't been installed. But now nothing shows me what is installed. So if I have an issue, I have to fully reinstall. We do not keep the full download install on the machines as it bloats the C drive. Not sure if Microsoft was saying the download would have helped see these?

I provided examples in the attachment. 1 of Windows 10 showing me Autodesk updates, and the last 2 of Windows 11 showing me only Windows updates.

If there is another way to see these, that would be great to know. Thank you for any help you can provide.

The Windows 10, Inventor 2014 is an old machine, not being used and hasn't been rebuilt. Just showing what Windows 10 showed.

Our production group is using Inventor 2020, Windows 10.

I use 2020 and have been testing 2023 with Windows 11 as the CAD Manager.

The last picture in my attachment shows what Windows 11 shows me if I select "View Installed Updates". From there, I cannot see where the Autodesk updates are available to see like your screenshot. Is that screenshot from Windows 11?

Microsoft responded to me yesterday with this reply "Control Panel is being phased out for Settings, so more of it will disappear with each Feature Update until it's eventually gone. For Updates go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History and Advanced Updates > Optional Updates...

I use the desktop app for the updates, but have found if I'm managing, downloading them from the Account Manager is better, as you can put it on the network for those as needed vs the desktop app and having users get it there

Thank you both for replying. I am the only one using 2023 with Windows 11 for testing and plotting out what version we upgrade to. Everyone else is on 2020 with Windows 10. We have had experiences where certain updates come out, fix one thing but break something else so being able to uninstall an update after we've evaluated what is the lesser evil is important. I am confused why Autodesk would say Windows 11 is supported but the functionality to uninstall particular updates is missing or at least I just can't seem to see how to get to that option like Michael Davis showed?

Michael, attached are my 2020 and 2023 about screenshots. I am not sure how that would help me get to the screen to allow me to uninstall certain ones if I needed to?

I'm sure I am just missing something obvious in the new Windows "updates" screen. Michael, can you show me screenshots of exactly how you got to that on a Windows 11 machine?

Thanks Michael. I am guessing maybe your Windows 11 isn't completely updated. I've checked with other users who are fully updated, and theirs looks like mine. I am thinking this happened on a Windows update. Mine doesn't look like yours anymore. I wish it did.

And nope, you can't uninstall it. It would be a clean Inventor uninstall/reinstall on Windows 11. That's messed up.

@ChrisMitchell01 or @johnsonshiue have you seen this issue?

Not being able to uninstall an Inventor updates on W11?

Yes this is a known issue that Autodesk is currently working with Microsoft on; they've removed the ability to remove updates for any product not only Autodesk in the most recent version of windows 11. Not good

Its an unfortunate issue but glad its on your radar. With this and the obsoletion of the uninstall tool, its making it more difficult to manage the software. In addition, I don't have confidence that removing the base product will remove all the service packs/updates. I have seen those hang around after. And now not being able to see which ones are installed, will be difficult to pinpoint sources of issues with service packs/updates. We can try the command line you suggested, but still no way to know if the uninstall of it worked.

Hopefully there is resolution. Seems like the best method would be to have this functionality built into the desktop app. It seems to already know what is installed because it doesn't list what is installed?

When I launch evenote it is because I have seen something I want to include in a note. Nowadays - almost everyt ime I go to open evernote, it installs a new version whihc takes two minutes or more. This is making the program unusable for my purposes. This is apparently (based on fiorum and web comments) not a problem fro users who have Evernote open all the time but for folks like me, it has destroyed the convenience of the program. If you are truly worried about the risks of customers failing to be protected from exploits if they have not upgraded (soemthign I saw in the forums), then install a failsafe that would force an upgrade install at least once every 6 weeks. Alternatively, reduce the number of upgrades to soemthing more similar to other office programs

Hi. Unless you only open Evernote every two weeks or so this should not be happening. We're mainly other users here, so 'we' can't do much about the software, but you might be able to avoid this by signing out of Evernote, removing data from your device, using Revo Uninstaller Free to totally remove the app from your system, power off then back on again and re-install from Evernote.com.

Thanks but typically I may onloy access EN once a week or less. The updates seemed to be much less frequent until maybe a couple of years ago. All I am suggesting is to have a warning coming up announcing a new update and having a "run now" or "run when I log off" choice box. It is the automatic running on log on that is so frustrating.

Just to be clear, these are user-to-user forums, so the "you" who might be worried are not present. You can email feed...@evernote.com. To be brutally honest, I'm not sure I see how a 2-minute delay in order to have the most recent software hampers once-a-week use.
