The writing tasks measure your English proficiency, so you don't need deep knowledge on a specific topic to get a high score. Score raters recognize that each essay is a first draft, and you can receive a high score with an essay that contains some errors.
All available volumes contain information and sample questions for the new Writing for an Academic Discussion task. Outside of this one task, you can still use all other previously purchased volumes to prepare for test day.
These questions simulate the enhanced TOEFL iBT testing experience. For an optimal experience, we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer with Google Chrome 104+, Mozilla Firefox 64+ or Apple Safari.
After submitting a response to a practice question, an immediate AI-generated score will be displayed. This score is unofficial and serves as an approximate score test takers might receive. On the real TOEFL iBT test, all answers are reviewed by AI and humans for the highest level of accuracy.
Hi Aziz, good question, and unfortunately, no, they do not release that information. The best you can do is work with an experienced teacher who can point out your weaknesses and work on them at home before test day.
What you need is a free and complete TOEFL practice test with an answer key that explains the answer to each question. Not only that, but this test should include speaking responses and essay samples so you know how to speak and write on test day.

The passage is important in giving you general background information of the topic. Read the passage carefully and make sure you understand it well. Takenotes of the main ideas of the passage but do not go into too many details. Even though there will be a three minute timer for you to read the passage,the passage is actually displayed while you are writing your essay. Your goal while reading the passage the first time should be to understand the main points in each paragraph.
The TOEFL writing section is a test of how well you can produce the kind of English writing you'd need to do in school. In total, you'll be working on the writing section for 50 minutes. It's broken up into two tasks: an independent task and an integrated task.
On the integrated task, you'll be writing about information that you read and listen to. That's why it's called 'integrated' - because it integrates your skills in reading and listening as well as writing.
First, you'll have three minutes to read a short passage. You can take notes while you read, but don't try to write down everything, because the reading passage will be available to you as you write. Then, the passage will disappear, and you'll listen to a lecture for two minutes. The lecture will be on the same topic as the reading passage. You can take notes on this, too. Then, the reading passage will reappear on the screen, and you'll start writing.
The writing assignment for the integrated task is always the same: summarize the main points of the listening passage and explain how they're related to the main points of the reading passage. Most students end up writing between 150 and 225 words, but there is no upper limit.
This task is graded on how organized and grammatically-correct your writing is and how well you respond to the prompt and include all the important information. You'll get marked down for things like incorrect grammar, awkward usage or leaving out important information in either of the passages. It's important to pay attention to grammar and language, but your answers don't have to be perfect to score well. You can still get a high score even if you make a few mistakes.
Both tasks are completed electronically, so there's no handwriting involved. You'll be graded on the quality of your writing on both responses. On the integrated task, you'll also be graded based on how accurately you summarize the information and how well you connect the passages. On the independent task, there's no right or wrong answer, so don't sweat over which side of the prompt you pick. Here, it's all about how well you state and support your opinion.
You will be required to submit TOEFL, IELTS or PTE scores if you do not hold a degree from a U.S. institution or from one of the English speaking countries (below). If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with international credentials, you will still be required to submit English test scores if you do not hold a degree from one of the countries on the list at the bottom of this page.
New iBT TOEFL requirements will take effect starting with Fall 2020 admissions (see chart below). No change will be made to the IELTS and PTE requirements. Beginning in August 2019, we will accept iBT TOEFL Superscores from ETS for purposes of meeting iBT TOEFL subscore requirements. If more than one valid IELTS or PTE score is submitted we will also consider the highest sectional scores from across all exams when determining whether requirements for full enrollment have been met. Please note that superscoring can only be done with the same types of test. For example, we will not superscore between an IELTS and a TOEFL exam.
