Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings from my current location of exile (Somewhere in Africa),

For many years Yahya Jammeh has viewed the Gambians as his objects and Gambia as his personal property. He has personalized everything that belongs to Gambia including our economy and land. He has no respect for any Gambian, arresting and keeping incommunicado of religious and traditional leaders. He unjustifiably arrest and detain our young folks including those who have sacrificed for him and his government. He even denies dead bodies of his opponents to be brought back to Gambia for burial.

Yaya promised us democracy, accountability and transparency. Today, he is the most enigmatic, undemocratic president in West Africa. Not even his Vice President and cabinet knows some of things he is up in the name of government, not the population.

HIS KILLINGS AND OTHER CRIMES

  • Ø  He ordered the shooting and killing of innocent 14 young people, mostly students in 10 and 11 April 2000 student demonstration and nothing came out of it
  • Ø  They murdered 5; Daba Marena, Ebou Lowe and the rest in 2003 because they are accused of a coup and fabricated a lie that they escaped while in custody and we kept quiet.
  • Ø  He ordered for the arrest journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh in 2006 and he has never been seen since then and many other Gambians have disappeared without trace. ECOWAS court made a ruling in favor of Manneh's family and Yaya ignored the court.
  • Ø  He framed and subsequently jailed Lang Tombong Tamba, Bo Badjie, O.B Mbye, Ensa Badjie and many security heads and jailed them for an attempted coup and we did nothing
  • Ø  He ordered the execution of 9 dead row inmates in 2012 defying orders from one of his Ministers and without following due process and never returned their bodies to families for decent burial and he claims to be a Sheikh or good Muslim.
  • Ø  He arrested innocent old mothers, fathers, wives and children of 2014 coup plotters, kept them incommunicado for months and released them at his will.

On Saturday 16th of April 2016, The Gambia, and the World received the shocking news that youth leader Solo Sandeng of the United Democratic Party was tortured to death by security forces following a peaceful protest. Other members of his team have been arrested, and their whereabouts still unknown.

As a responsible national youth leader and Chairperson of the Gambia National Youth Council, I called for a ''peaceful protest march'' on the 18th April 2016 to demand answers from our state/government, and stand in solidarity with our fallen comrades. I demanded justice for Solo, and all the youth that have been unjustly imprisoned, maimed, and killed over the years by the security forces loyal to regime of President Yaya Jammeh, especially the victims and survivals of the April 10 and 11 student’s demonstrations. I demanded for a wider, and open democratic space for every Gambian. I demanded a free environment for journalist, for politicians, for human rights activists, electoral reforms and for the ordinary citizens to enjoy their fundamental rights as citizens of The Gambia.

Jammeh and his security forces, responded by hacking my Facebook account, blocked all my numbers, sent me death threats via email, arrested my colleagues for questioning at the National Intelligence Agency and removed me as the Chairperson of the Gambia National Youth Council.

I am currently in exile (self) due to my personal security and left my offices, employees, families and properties in Gambia for speaking up against injustice and oppression. The battle is NOT lost, We the young people in Gambia and Diaspora have formed a new global campaign and movement called #NewGambia2016, WE are a non-partisan movement for a #NewGambia2016, where democracy, human rights and the rule of law is respected and upheld.

It is now evident and vivid, that a NEW GAMBIA 2016 is POSSIBLE!

Sequel to the current political titanic and shameful events carried out by the Government of The Gambia under dictator Jammeh. We call on the diplomatic missions in Gambia, and the international community to continuously monitor the current situations in the country. We hope the local and international media will continue to name and shame Jammeh, his security forces and enablers.

The #NewGambia2016, global movement for #Justice and #Democracy in Gambia, will launch globally in July 22nd 2016, the same day Yaya Jammeh will celebrate his 23rd year in office as the only dictator in West Africa. We need your support in launching this new campaign and movement. We want to reinforce the pressure and amplify our voices for a democratic Gambia. WE reject all forms of oppression, manipulation, deception, arrests, shootings and killings by President Jammeh

.

1. WE demand the immediate release of Lawyer Ousainou Darboe and UDP members arrested, including all political prisoners.

2. WE call on President Jammeh to accept full responsibility for the death of Solo Sandeng and address the nation.

3. We demand electoral reforms, to ensure smooth, free and fair elections in Gambia cum December 2016.

4. We call on religious and traditional leaders to fulfill their responsibilities, by condemning the "oppression" on Gambian citizens by President Jammeh.

5. We #urgently call on the #disarrayed opposition parties, to form a #united and #formidable coalition and present to young people of the Gambia (57% of the population) and #NewGambia2016 global campaign, a #credible candidate for OUR endorsement and votes.

6. We call on all concerned individuals, organizations and patriotic citizens to support the #NewGambia2016 global campaign and speak up for #Justice and #Democracy. WE will usher in a #NewGambia fit for us and our children.

Friends and Colleagues, Yaya Jammeh wants to be President for Life at the expense of Gambia lives and yet we continue to sit and say ‘Gambia is a peaceful country’. Peace is NOT only the absence of war. The country belongs to us not Yaya Jammeh. He claims to love and will die for us. It’s not true. He wants to stay and die there because he does not want his cruel actions to be investigated and revealed to Gambians.

We are tired of living under dictatorship with a broken economy leading many to flee the country. Kindly join US and contact me if you want to support the NewGambia2016 campaign and visit our Facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/newgambia2016/
