Call for nominations: WHF Roadmap on Acute Coronary Syndrome writing group

Dear Okechukwu,

The World Heart Federation (WHF) Roadmaps are a key component of our work to reduce the global burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) through evidence-based policy and health system solutions.

WHF is now initiating the development of a Roadmap on Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) to address the substantial global burden of ACS, persistent gaps in timely diagnosis and treatment, and inequities in access to life-saving care, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and low-resource settings in high-income countries.

The Roadmap will focus on improving the recognition, acute management, and post-event care of ACS, aiming to strengthen care systems, expand access to guideline-directed treatment, and reduce preventable mortality and morbidity worldwide by synthesising current evidence, highlighting country case studies, identifying key implementation barriers, and providing practical, evidence-based recommendations across diverse health system settings.

To support this work, we invite WHF Members to nominate experts to join the WHF Roadmap on Acute Coronary Syndrome Expert Writing Group.

We welcome nominations of physicians, public health specialists, and researchers with expertise in areas such as:

  • Acute coronary syndrome management and acute coronary care
  • Interventional cardiology
  • Emergency cardiovascular care systems, including pre-hospital and ambulance services
  • Secondary prevention and post-ACS care
  • Digital health, registries, and cardiovascular data systems
  • Epidemiology and cardiovascular disease surveillance
  • Health economics
  • Health policy and/or advocacy
  • Implementation science
  • Health systems strengthening

To nominate a candidate, please submit their name, role, affiliation, contact details, and a brief biography to sci...@worldheart.org by Friday, 24 April 2026.

While all nominations will be carefully considered, places are limited and final selection will be made by the WHF Roadmap Committee, with oversight from the WHF Science Committee.

Thank you for your continued engagement with WHF Roadmaps. We look forward to receiving your nominations.

Best wishes,

Prof Y. S. Chandrashekhar, Co-Chair expert writing group

Prof José R. González-Juanatey, Co-Chair expert writing group
