Dear All,
As you are all aware, open heart surgery was carried out at Dr Joe Nwiloh Heart Centre, St Joseph's Mission Hospital, Adazi Nnukwu, Anambra State, in late July/early August this year. The heart centre is named after Dr Nwiloh himself. 3 cases were done and they were all successful. They are:
1. Aortic valve replacement in a 71-year old man
2. VSD and ASD closure plus PDA in a 13-year old child
3. PDA ligation in an 8-year old child.
We congratulate Dr Nwiloh and his team of surgeons which included Dr Obinna Orakwe and Dr Etukokwu, both Cardiothoracic surgeons and members of Nigerian Cardiac Society. More grease to your elbows. We expect more cardiac surgery centres to emerge in our country in the near future and sustenance of the existing ones.
Attached is a short profile of Dr Joe Nwiloh Heart Centre.

Congratulations to Dr Jonathan Nwiloh and his team and to the entire membership of the Nigerian Cardiac Society. We are really moving forward. Before long, there shall be a reversal of medical tourism to Nigeria by the grace of God.

Congratulations again to Dr Nwiloh.
Will there be any forum at the upcoming NCS for presentations from the centres performing Open Heart surgery or soon to open?  If there is a specific period that has been alloted to this activity it needs to be advertised, especially as the theme of this conference deals with the emergence of Open Heart Surgery in Nigeria.

Kind regards

Dear Sec Gen,
Greetings and compliments.  Thanks for the early PASCAL mtg notice.  However it appears to coincide with the WACP exams period & may make travelling difficult for members who are examiners. I thought I should draw ur attention to this early enough.p
