Dear Members,
Only 9 days to go until World Heart Day With World Heart Day just around the corner, we wanted to share with you some press materials which you may want to use in the lead up to World Heart Day. As you may already know, the focus for this year’s World Heart Day is on the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among women and children, which is a continuation of the 2011 theme; One World, One Home, One Heart. This year, the World Heart Federation commissioned a multi-national survey to assess perceptions of the general public about the age they believed people should start to take action about their heart health to prevent conditions such as heart disease and stroke. The survey shows that nearly half of people believe we should wait until age 30 or older before taking action to protect our heart, when in fact CVD can affect people of all ages and population groups, and the risk can begin early in life with exposure to CVD risk factors.
This year, the World Heart Federation is calling on women and families to protect their own heart health as well as that of their children, to safeguard the health of future generations. The survey findings have formed the basis of the World Heart Day global and template press releases. Within this email, you will find enclosed the following: Global press release (in English)
