The Coalition is moving forward



Dear All,


I want to use this medium to appreciate all who responded
and made suggestions on how to move the Coalition forward .
It is very good at this point that members have used this
platform to talk and share their perspectives.


For those who were not part of the last meeting or has not
been part of our meetings so far. We agreed at the last
meeting to focus on these sectors.


Sector(s)

• Extractive ( Mining and Hydrocarbon)

• Construction

• Agriculture

• ICTs ( Telecom, software companies) &

• Banking


This year, we have resolved to move forward against all odds
and make a desirable impact. The strategy is to work with
members who have the passion and commitment to support the
issues the Coalition is out to achieve.


Our Coalition stands to build consensus around the concept
of Business and Human rights, whereby corporations should
ensure that they are not directly or indirectly contributing
to human rights violations and to work towards embedding the
concept of business and human rights in domestic legislation
and policies.


We also plan to engage in high level advocacy, add our voice
to issues that will strengthen corporate accountability in
Nigeria covering the sectors we have identified.


On this note, we therefore request for a Skype meeting by
next week or two to enable us prepare grounds for what we
expect to achieve in coming months. This meeting will be
used to deliberate on how to strengthen the Steering
Committee to be more effective and proactive in their work
and ensure the governance document provides the framework
for all issues pertaining to day to day management of our
processes.



Please, we ask that you indicate your availability for this
Skype meeting ( Monday July 27, Tuesday July 28, Wed July
29, Thursday July 30 - Friday July 31- And Monday Aug 3,
Tuesday Aug 4, Wed Aug 5, Thursday Aug 6, Friday Aug 7.
Time is 1pm-2pm, 3pm-4pm, 4pm-5pm).



Please select a day and time you may have the chance and
when you select, please do share with us your Skype ID.


Once we confirm from everyone, an agenda will be released
for member's contribution.
