URGENT SIGN ON BY NIGERIA NGOs: LETTER IN SUPPORT FOR THE APPELLANTS’ APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION TO APPEAL IN THE CASE OF OKPABI Vs. SHELL

Dear  Colleagues,

By the request of the Leigh Day & Co. , the UK Law Firm representing 2 Nigeria communities in the corporate human rights abuse case in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria involving Shell, I on behalf of African Law Foundation (AFRILAW) in partnership with the African Coalition for Corporate Accountability (ACCA), have develop the Draft Rule 15 Letter for the sign on and endorsement of Nigeria CSOs working on human rights and corporate accountability. 

This letter is required to support the ongoing appeal in the case of HRH Emere Okpabi & Others Vs. Royal Dutch Shell Plc & Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd and Lucky Alame & Others Vs. Royal Dutch Shell PLC & Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd to the Supreme Court from Her Majesty’s Court of Appeal (Civil Division) in the UK.

Considering the urgency of the sign-on. I also seek your permission to add other NGOs who because of exigency of time could not personally sign-on.
